Time for a change to the MV, that will fix the "player imbalances" |

You heard me, a way to solve the player imbalance... how? well, i think we've been getting a taste of it with the recent MV reset. yep, AI Fleets.
simply put: system is owned by UGTO, no UGTO in system. ICC fleet invades, script sees no UGTO, so spawns a fleet to counter ICC.
now, not so simply: as you get farther away from a factions home system, the smaller and fewer the ships. so, for instance, Lalande, a highly contested system between Kluth and UGTO. maybe it could spawn a max hull size of dessies, and depending on invading force, the number of ships varry.
so that way, an invading fleet to Sol would encounter dreads and cruisers, and by far, a larger fleet.
some may worry, what about AI farming? well, few options. (if possible) tone down prestige gain from these AI ships, considering they are pretty stupid (so i hear), or, since the AI are supposed to be defending, you'd awesome they'd have a larger force, maybe even see if it's possible to make the AI smarter/give them a few advantages the players cant have which will even out the odds.

Even though i like the idea of Ai fleets Defending stuff but the current Ai has just enough skill to get an AC Killed by a Scout with 2 P Cannons and Tag :/
An Ai Upgrade would be nice if this would be implemented

Not a bad idea at all lith. However, in current release of game, its way to laggy with those kind of numbers. Would work if new release has no lag tho

well, not have them spawn in HUGE numbers, just something enough to counter the invading fleet

Was thinking that. Maybe the script could use the number of players in that system and then provide a random factor to increase/decrease numbers. Either that or factor in the resources of the system. Anyway, the idea has potential

the huge nummer of ai lagged me out of the server. Need to turn down the numbers.

i think it has enough potential, providing tweaks and fixes, that it could keep the MV populated (and i am talking not 1 or 2 people) almost 24/7
i'd love this, cause get what? there would be no more of this:
Log into DS.
Check MV map.
See 0 players.
Find a few players for your faction.
None willing to go.
Sigh and log off.
instead, it would be:
Log into DS.
Dont bother checking the MV map.
Log into MV.
Make a bee line to the nearest enemy system.
And low and behold, there is already a fleet from your faction there, and plenty of AI to defend.
Grin and have fun playing DS all day long.
so, you tell me, which is more appealing?

I made an Identical (and i mean IDENTICAL) suggestion about 6 months ago, and actually got a reply along the following lines:-
Faustus does not, in any way, want to add more AI ships to the game and does in fact want to remove the few that already exist.
He may have changed his mind since then, but i think i saw something about AI trannies being phased out so i doubt it.

/me falls over dead ... Am I to assume that you now agree with me Lith and its not really a ship imbalance as it is a player/fleet/race inactivity imbalance ?
