Depots are good they fix you up while your hurt and reload when needed.
BUT they do it for FREE.
that has got to change so here is my idea.

Each ship consists of all kind of weapons systems Fusion torps AM drives and HVY armor.

For a depot to fix these things it will need to use up metals that are used when building these items.

So you AME is damaged sure well fix it but well need the metals for it first.
Your hull is damaged awww im sorry i seem to have run out of HVY metals you can stay but the efficiency of the fix will be dropped by 50% * takes longer *

You see my point?
Anything that is damaged will require the metals that are used to build the item to fix it.

Also for each 1% hull you'll need 20 metal and 10 HVY so a dread will be murder for the planets stock.


Supply ships can fix ANYTHING anywhere whit theyr drones BUT when they reload they can only reload at a planet whit a depot cuz theyr reloads require ALL metals to completely be reloaded


And as last Depots will act like store houses for metals.
whit a MAX for each metal type of course putting 2 depots down will give the planet another increase in storage.

also the starport has some storage space.


in anyway you can get things fixed but you need at least 1 component metal of the device this will however decrease the efficiency A LOT and makes you stay put for a dang lot longer.
if NO metals are at the planet well lets say i hope the duck tape holds for another jump

Supply ship battle field reload.

For this we would require wreckages to be in place.
you ship get blown up and a wreckage appears.

From this wreckage supply ships can strip the metals needed to replenish theyr drones.

ofcourse not even a downed dread has enough pure metal left to reload ALL drones most of it is fused together.

I believe something similar worked that way with supply ships. They used to have to carry metal around to be able to repair ships (don't think there was a drone limit -- you were limited to the metal you could carry). But it was removed in favor of the drone limit.

I personally think its overly complicated, but if you put in something simple like a "speed repair" ability that uses some metal to speed up the repair process would be cool.

Maybe some tweaking would help, too.

i agree with this, also for ammunition should be used adequate "resources"

and what about this:

- docking fees for starports
- repairing tickets ...

etc.

more economy .... hehe

I think that would take too much time repairing ships and not enough time left for fighting. Darkspace is already a huge time sucking black hole as it is.
