I the comming patch*es* the fighters will become a mayor part of the game.

Also due to theyr increased strength i have read that the carriers will get a reduced armament.
This is ok but i would like to see that the launch time for a fighter is drasticly reduced especially since you cannot reload the fighters whit a supply unit anymore.
If you loose em they are GONE * correct me if im wrong *
And in my opinion sending out a wing of fighters just to let em duke it out during the reload will ensure theyr demise in other words they are effective in numbers but you cant send em out in those numbers.
A naval carrier * and carriers from fiction * always were possible to send the mayority of the fighters out FAST in order to defend themselfs.

So its simple to kill a carrier get rid of its fighter umbrella and hit it.
No carrier stays around when its running out of fighters.

You will be able to have up to half your fighters in space at once, you can launch them at yourself, and they will fly escort until they get a target. At least from what I understand.

thats not the point.

what is when you have to jump? launching fighters takes too long, as does dock em (due to fighter non ki).
Its not suited for fast paced combat that will even get faster now.

why would anaone construt a carrieer that needs ages to deploy all its fighters?

in the age of space fare you do not need catapults or something like that, you basicly need a (huge) window you can throw em through.

it should be possible to have them start all at once, or in 50% waves.

take a loo kat starfleet command 1-2-3, you were able to deploy all your fighters at once, and that was truly usefull.

@Daimen
In any spacecraft space is rare...you will not have all you fighters just like they are armed and ready behind the doors
You have them stored in a compressed way, arm them before combat, refuel them before combat...you need space for refueling and rearming

At any point it takes to long for them to be used when your group is on the offensive.

Perhaps that the fighters could jump whit the ship they were escorting?
but only when they escort a ship so NOT when you target an nmy at 10Kgu out and you launch em so they jump it.

uh i i remember this
it is posable to have a ramed fighter onboard
just look at the space series "Earth Above and Beyond"
the stored the armed an feuled space fighters in the outer armor of the hull
the fighters have a small pod for the figher pilot that is trancfered up about 40 meters up in the ship there is the flight dek
there the decompression takes place
the repears on the fighter takes place in the underlaying hanger whit automated / manual controled fighters
when a lanch is orderd it go's in this order

> coppits raze in the decompression bay : fighters start up there power and droids start the fueling
> outer doors of the decompression bay open and let the fighter pilots and some ground cruw in
> ground strips the fighter pilot in there seats
> last orders from command or anny battle cry is given to the sqaud
> fighter pilots reseave helmets and the grounds cruw locks the pods
> the compression bay is evecuated and the doores closed the 18 second decompression begins
> all stations report ready : new only for the lanch order
>> command gives the order to launch : thats 20 seconds berofe the fighters are lanched from the hangers
> the underlocking airlogs are released and all the figher pilot pods drop
down to there fighters
: at the same time the arming codes to the weapons on the fighters are given from command : incase of an escape of some one or rebels to have active weapons on a fighter
> the pods dock whit the fighters becomming one
: the power is switched from external to the fighters internal power
> a 4 second of fighter check list for the pod to fighter systems
< a 8 second lanch window : no turning back new for command only the fighter pilot can abort new by unhooking the catapult line
: imputted later on in the series other wise check list and launch was normal
> fighters launch

all this can be done in a minimum of 2 minutes > if there are no lasy pilot
the hangers can hold up til 6 fighters per lanch bay
and there are normal 3 fighter pilots for one lanch bay ( 2 fighers for one pilot

the maximum duration of the figters standing ready to launch ( in the decompression bays ) is about 30 minutes > that is for the 20 secons launch window
meaning
to fully charge the bays and launch at one is 2 minutes
you can charge the bays and load up the fighters in the pods and have a launch of less than 20 seconds

>> ending EAAB <<
forget the type error had to write it over from dutch
+ this is what eaab used
maby its somthing for DS dont know
all i know is origional space fighers i see as the modern carrier ships at see
the store the fighters in the holds and arm the fighters on the deck
what im told a standart USA carrier can lanch from 0 crafts up to 60 in less than 4 minutes
that includes 2 awacs and 8 submarine attack helicopters

BUH my lost 13 eurocents

Regardless of 'realism', being able to launch most of your fighters quickly would create a server, lag, and graphical overload.

Note: This is not a sea but a space game, things work different in space, if you refer to sea then refer to submarines and I haven't seen submarines with fighters so far (time for me to build some )

dont make me laugh.....

We can build carriers today that can hold how many? 40-60 aircrafts?

now dont tell me that in a Future where they can build huge space faring vessels theres no place for a hangar....

Yes, its easier to start fighters. Just open the hangar doors and let em fly out. no need for katapults or any stuff like that.

and dont tell me you need a football field to fit some ammo on a fighter...
Pilots? why Pilots? those fighters are remote controled.
The pilots sit in their simulator cabines on the carrier and fly the fighter from distance. if the fighter is lost the pilot just gets next chance with the new wave of fighters eh...
Remember guys, this is the Future

No, DS fighters are manned, not remote. They have cockpits; why add those if there's no pilot?

@Daimen Fighters in space are huger than scouts...and you have 10 of those inside a heavy cruiser and 40 inside a carrier, now think again...
Anyway fighters in space are not easier than fighters on the ground, you need life support for the pilots, you cannot use a simple fuel -> huge engines
And fighters are NOT remote controlled, any hostile team could steal the access codes and remote control the fighter wings of the hostile carrier dreads (oh the joy)

Btw, DONT think of aircraft carriers at sea, better think of destroyers at sea with (at least US navy has them) their hovercrafts for landing operations in the back, that shows the dimensions way better
