how about a Zoo sturcture which would raise the morale of the planet and in case of invasion release a horde of trianed killer Affen. |:)

This is it. It reads a bit weird but try to see if you can understand it:
The idea is about a MetaVerse news.
This would be done by mods and players.
If possible it would be a webpage on the Ds site.
That page is used to post news about the MV. It can be about things that are really happening, Invasions and large battles.
But also fiction news, Example:

The convoy was carrying supplies for the UGTO frontline colonies.
Sensor reports indicate that The K’luth is forming fleets around the entire frontline.

But the news could also be about updates.
If new weapon would be introduced then it would be first posted as news before being released.
If it is in Alpha then it would be posted that it is being developed on a planet in a secret research lab.
Once it goes beta, news could be posted that testers are needed to test the prototype.
This way you might also be able to get more people to beta test because it would be integrated in a story.
Maybe later it could be expanded with a Newspaper that is send to people by E-Mail.
Or when people log onto Ds they would get a little popup containing the latest news.
Normal players/mods could do the news. All they need to do is play MV.
This would also improve role-play.
Also people could like it because normal players will be able to get in the news.
Some games use systems like this and people always like it.
A simple version would be:
1: A few players who spend most of their time in MV.
(1.5: Mods could use the mod orb once it is released.)
2: A page to post it. (If possible a page on the DS site)
3: And if Mods would be allowed to use the broadcast option to broadcast news about the MV.
This would probably work. The larger version would be better though.
A large (and better) version would be:
If DS would get a /news function. This would be a normal broadcast but it would look like this:
{News: Post news here.} Instead of {broadcast: post Broadcast here.}
This would only be able to be done by Reporters. They have a Red avatar in chat. (The logo/guy next to the names)
They are like normal players accept:
1: They can use the /news option
2: They can use the “News ship”. This ship would look green to all factions, is Mv only and works a bit like the mod orb.
It is a normal ship but it doesn’t have weapons, has a jump drive with unlimited fuel and its fast (gets his own slot) but can be killed.
3: They can post on the MV-news page.
If you like the idea and it gets implemented in the future then I would know a few players who wouldn’t mind being reporters.

Another nice thing for the next release:
It would be nice if you could create groups in your friends list.
this way you can send messages to part of the list.

Regarding Shipyards:
I allotted for 4 classes of yards, Basic, standard, large, advance.
Each can build x hull levels concurrently. The first two are planet side structures, while the second two would be orbital. Basic - 2 hull classes, Standard - 4 hull classes, Large - 6, station - 8. A scout would have a hull rating of 1, while a stations would have a rating of 8, a dread 6, cruisers 4. So an Advance shipyard could work on 1 station or build a dread and 2 scouts, or 8 scouts, or 2 cruisers at the same time... While a Standard shipyard could not build a dread or a station.
In the event of capture, the build que and research level for shipyard are wiped. And the structure is unusable for 10 minutes (appears as if it was building on timer) for "retooling". You could use it to build the hull class capacity, but if a captured yard is destroyed, you have to reresearch to build it again.
Regarding Politics, I dumped a lot on Faustus, though I dont know how much he will use. I am working on possible economic dynamics too for him to review.
I am not saying this is how either will be used, its just what was suggested in write ups to the big man. What he chooses to use or how he implements it is soley upto him.

Grr...stupid post button...
Anyway, I have two questions. If one faction captures the other's shipyard, will they be able to build that faction's ships? I.e., ICC captures a UGTO shipyard and starts building Battle Dreads?
Second, how long are build times going to be? Unless they're pretty darn long, that won't have much of an impact on gameplay.

A.J., if you reread my post you will see that when you capture it, its not available for x minutes for "retooling" so it can make your ships...

so u took my suggestion seriosly?? We'll anyohow i think that orbital platforms should be cappable.but each would have 2 inf on board already soo u need lots to cap one... And what about this? A fighter upgrade where the fighter has a free slot and when u orbit a planet u can fill the fighters free slot wit stuff like psi cannons or sabots?? and maybe a mirv?

Yes one of the things I am looking at is how trade items are needed by the planet and affects the planets happieness.
Just because I work up dynamics for use doesnt mean Faustus can use it or code for it. But hopefully if I do my job right with the baseline logic, he can find away to code for it.
As for the Fighters, I have been looking at upgrades and different roles, so you have to get the right kind of bay for the role you wish to fullfill.
