We should wait until Eledore writes an entry in Database about Enhancement. From what you guys have discussed above, I believe we need to listen from official source.

After some testing, weapons coolers do work. But they dont work the way you would expect. They dont directly reduce the amount of time it takes a weapon to be fired again. But they increase the speed at which the weapon fires. What i mean is with a rail gun, instead of it taking a good 2 seconds to finish the firing phase and begin the regeneration phase, when you have 8 adv coolers equiped it takes about 1 second to finish the firing process and begin the regeneration phase. The regeneration phase also seems to be affected but not nearly to this degree. Taking it from about 4 seconds to about 3 seconds. Over all, on an aproximtly 6 second firing cycle, it reduces it to 4 seconds firing cycle.
Now i understand what sens meant, It would have a much reduced effect on missiles because the firing phase is very short and the regeneration phase is very long. Same with torpedo's, however there is still a great disparity in effectiveness between different types of cannons. For instance, the firing cycle on a guass cannon is much shorter than that of a rail cannon, because it only shoots 2 projectiles instead of 5. So the weapons coolers would have a much reduced effect on gauss cannons. This enh seems likely to have the greatest effect on ugto cannons.

Wait a minute... it's supposed to reduce the cooldown time, according to the description. So how again does Weap Coolers work?
Can we have something official from the Devs pls?
I've tried equipping my bombers with Coolers to get a higher bomb release rate, so I wanna know if it was a waste of my time.

HA I WAS RIGHT in the last thread that people mentioned this.
alright i will straighten this out.
weapon cooler (speeds up volley to give the appearance of faster recharge) so in this case its a illusion.
weapon condensor (reduces energy requirement and as a side effect makes guns go bang bang bang more often)
i hope that straightens that out. (it pays to play beta)

Core weaps fire one shot everytime you hit that fire key. How does weap coolers work for them then?
Do they work or don't they?

And what's the diff between the 2 shots firing a half sec apart and a quarter sec apart?

Maybe.
But imagine 8 x Adv Weap Coolers for 6400 creds. And all they do on a ship is to make whatever multishot weap have a higher volley ROF?
And the single shot weaps are not affected, or benefit from them in any way?
Seems like an expensive but pointless enh don't you think?

in a way they do increase the rate of fire for volleys
its the way they do it thats useless.
speed up what ever is comming out of the chamber to get the gun charged for the next one.
lets start a scenerio
imgane a tank that barrel fires 3 rounds for every volly for one pull of the trigger.
ok so about 2 seconds per shot and then the main system of the gun had to recharge.
now what the cooler does is reduce the time taken.
so you got a gun spewing out what ever is inside it faster so it can start the recharge phase sooner.
what the condensor does is make it require less power inside the gun to make it fire.
so each round comes out after 2 seconds and then instead of sucking up massive amounts of power.
it chops that down and the gun requires less time to recharge and reload.
so in the case of beams don't use the multiplexers on them as you can not fire beams as often use the condensor.
rate of fire works great i believe for pd class ships but it sucks all the power up.
imagine a pulse beam ending its firing cycle sooner.
or in the case of range a pulse beam shooting further giving it more time to shoot stuff down as apose to shooting it down faster.
basicly this is how it goes.
cooler kicks the guy out of the barrel faster (useless on single shot weapons)
condensor (makes the thing suck up less power and as a side effect makes the recharge phase shorter)
range increases effective range
multiplexer is like firing a biggger stick of tnt
as such the most commonally used enhancements is
defence upgrade, defence power, (kluth usually) and multiplexers

A: WELL SHOVE THE CONTENTS OUT REAL FAST AND START RELOADING!!!
B: BUT THATS NOT RELOADING FASTER!!!
A: IT STILL COUNTS!!!

So basicly what this thread has achieved is this:
Weapons coolers are virtually useless because they do not have hardly any effect on weapons. By decreasing the time it takes for a volley to complete you accomplish nothing but a marginal increase in Rate of Fire. It does not increase damage per second or reduce the energy used.
Thankfully i test enhancements in beta first. Hopefully this thread will save alot of people from spending money on something that doesnt really do anything.
