i just installed my new Ge3 (ASUS 8200)
own driver from the CD - 12.10
good all ok. but heavy problem`s in DS (flashing etc.)
installed the new ref. driver from ASUS - 12.60
superb really high scores in 3D-Mark2001 but the same "lousy" problem`s in DS - flashing - nearly unusable
now - will there be a solution in the next day`s or do i need to go back to the very old one (6.88)
an advise would be very nice
FAUSTUS? NIMBY?
tnx. a lot

The problem I think is how I'm page flipping in D3D... I may be asking the card to show the page ASAP instead of waiting for the VB. This seems to be the mostly likely cause of the flicker. You might want to check your card settings, there might be a way to tell the card to wait for the VB.

sorry2
i`m "knocking on heaven`s door" again
there is a big need for a solution
very soon (hopefully) there will be the OPEN with loads of player`s
a lot of them will come with "NVIDIA-Card`s" {TNT2(Ultra)/GeF 1/2/3} and will have big problems with the grafics
the last driver fully functional in DS with my GeForce DDR (before) and now my GeF3 is the (beta-)version 6.88 (no DX8-support)
just to mention the difference for my ASUS 8200
3D-Mark2001
with 6.88 (beta) 3155
with 12.10 (ASUS) 4899
with 12.60 (ASUS) 5298
if there is no solution (call NVIDIA?) i (and all the other`s) have to downgrade the system (to 6.88 or so) with - for me - bad consequences for the rest of my applications/games.
not what i call my beloved solution
sorry again i know i`m a "nail in your flesh" but i think it is urgent
tnx. for your patience

Been running a Diamond Viper V770 TNT2 with the last version that diamond has available and DS is Superb. Installed a VisionTek GeForce2 GTS with their drivers dated 4.12.01 ver 7.58 and again runs supberb. No tweaking or messing around needed.

Have to chime in here, as well...I have a Hercules 3D Prophet DDR (Geforce 256 DDR), which runs just great with the 12.41 reference drivers....Faustus may be on to something with the VB.

You have to enable the VSync in Direct 3D!
In order to do that you have to install the Coolbits!
Then should the Problem be solved!

VB = Verticle Blank
This is a short time after the screen has been drawn by the electron beam in your monitor before it begins drawning the next frame.
I will attempt to fix the flicker problem before the Open beta begins, so just hang tight, cause I'm deep in server/client code at the moment.

OR
It could just be the fact your using a really fast computer? I'm running with a GeForce 2 MX (duel head) with the latest Nvidia drivers and no problems on an AMD 500Mhz.
Do you have a 1GHZ machine?
