I have successfully built a 100%PD barren, with a little exploit power bug.
Progress
  1. Reach 70 pop with 2 biosphere and 80 tech, then build variance and Bomb I.
  2. Upgrade 2 biosphere to 2 automated and drop to 50 pop, continue to build bomb I.
  3. Delete Cortex and Subscpace, build bomb I until the planet reaches 100%.

Result
  • 1 Colony + 1 Lab + 2 Automated Farm + 4 dome + 4 variance = 50 food + 50 pop + 20 tech + 210 power.
  • 20 Bomb 1 = 100% PD.

Status
  • Worker: 50/41/+9
  • Power: 210/210/0

With 100% PD, a barren is an absolute defense. No matter how many bomber are bombing, it is not harmed. No matter how many red inf are landing, they can not raze any structure or kill any green inf on it. It's just a barren. You must bring at least 4 stations to capture it because of 32 inf = 3.2 ships.

Hereby announcing the fact, I suggest:
Bomb I
  • 3% PD
  • 20 tech
  • 20 power
  • 1 worker

Bomb II
  • 6% PD
  • 60 tech
  • 30 power
  • 4 worker

Hydrid I
  • 2% PD
  • 40 tech
  • 15 power
  • 2 worker

Hydrid II
  • 5% PD
  • 80 tech
  • 25 power
  • 5 worker

Offense I
  • 1% PD
  • 30 tech
  • 10 power
  • 3 worker

Offense II
  • 4% PD
  • 70 tech
  • 20 power
  • 6 worker

Bomb, Hydrid, Offense requires highest power, technology, worker respectively. Build at X technology and function at X technology; unlike build at X technology and function unless X-10 technology. I suggest so because I notice Hydrid II or Bomb I are everywhere due to its soft requirement.

Interdictor, Sensor ought to have its requirement adjusted too, but it's not crucial.

I didn't test with ICC shield generator because you can't have 100% PD with a shield on a barren and you don't need shield on 100% PD planet. I think we may remove planetary shield and planetary anti-sensor out of the game.

I didn't test on Ice/Ocean/Arid/Terran in binary system so I don't know what is the maximum PD one can get.

This won't be possible after the next update. Max is 80% with 20x PD I's.

Well the planet still do zero damage i recon so it will only stop bombing and inf rushing..but 4 ships or ai is still easy cap..

Why don't you need shield on a 100% PD planet? I've been told PD is not point defense (chance to shoot down bombs and inf), but planetary defense which is damage reduction.

Is it that 100% PD means bombs and enemy infantry do zero damage? That's messed up if true.

Yes, it does zero damage. It also gives a bonus to allied infantry, meaning that ENEMY infantry do no damage either.



Planets need more bite, imo.

More anti ship, less damage reduction IMO. 80% is too much considering how easy it is to attain, and 100% is obviously broken. On the flipside, stations built with offense bases, especially level II offense bases, aren't enough of a threat.

Offense bases need more damage and range.
