Q: Should Gideon's FX pack be implimented as the default weapon effects, or should it remain as an optional addon.

I've always liked gideon's graphics better. So it has my vote.

My preferences:
Cannons:
EMP - Gideon (barely)
Rail - Gideon
Pc - Neutral, though I like the little trail of now
Psi - Current
Beams:
Flux - Current
Rupt - Gideon
CL - Gideon
ELF - Gideon (barely; I like them being a bit thinner, though)
Torps: assuming the same view/ange/range, they might want to be scaled down a bit, but generally:
AM - Gideon
P - Gideon
F - Gideon
I'd also say maybe shift the colors back slightly towards the current ones; that is, have the AM be more yellowish to better differentiate it from the Ptorp.
So basically, I guess I come out in favor of Gideon's pack, despite never having used it.. with the exception of a few tweaks, the Flux Beam, and the Psi cannon.

The flux looks ugly, but at the same time, it's an ugly weapon. It looks...how do you say it? Powerfully ugly?
However, I think it'd be a good idea to pick the ones that are liked the most and just use those.

I was actually thinking about that with the Flux. It IS kinda ugly, but I like the ugliness more than just one more regular beam with a slightly different color; looking at the beams from Gids pack, everything but the disruptor just looks the same with a slight hue shift.
I was thinking, though, that if we do keep the current Flux look, maybe tone down the wierdness around the beam; still have it pulse and look crazy, but not so big crazy. In any case, I'll fiddle with it one of these days and see if I can make it look unique but not quite so wacky.

What about core weapons? We need a craaaazzzzyy trail on those things. Especially for the Krill.

Personally, I like brighter effects.
Therefore, the current cannon effects, we should keep. And preferrably improve their trails.
Gideons torpedo effects are FAR better however, and would keep them. And as Shig said, a golden tint (not sickly yellow, please) to the AM torps would be welcome. And a thick trail too, if its possible.
I don't like how CL's currently look or look in Gideons pack. They seem too thin. Gideons pulse and Disruptor effects look grand though.

since his torpedo and cannons are superior im giving Gid my vote.
although some are a bit off like most ppl say the overal is in Gids favor.

I like our current cannons, but the rest I would have to go with Gideon's pack. I think it's easier to tell what cannon is comming at in our current graphics compared to Gideons.

CANNONS: I just feel that the graphics for the Rail and Psi should be switched then it would all work.
TORPS: New Torps across the board.
