In the next update there will be changes to the UGTO carrier dread...

I have decided because of the new strength of fighters, I have removed 3 of the fighter bays from the STS-101 Super Carrier dread. But have given it some other weapons to make up for the stripping of the fighter bays simular to the games history.

I have included a new carrier at the 1st RA rank with the stats of the current carrier. (Basicly moved the ship up a rank while giving a reduced fighter model to the 2nd RA's.)

We'll need to play test BOTH carriers vigerously to ensure they are balanced, in fact the new STS-101 will need particular attention paid to it as we may need to change or remove 1 or 2 of its replacement weapons to get it in balance for a ship of its Rank Requirement.

Hmm. Never planned a rank requirement for a separate Carrier dread...

When are those new requirements going in, anyway?

Now this may sound a bit silly.. But, the Carrier Dread normally holds 8 fighter slots, the new one will have 5?

Okay, the Battledread has 4 Fighter slots.. Er, need I go on? Why not just move the current carrier dread up to 1RA. Perhaps put in some type of *different* dread into the game for UGTO? Perhaps a missle dread.. after all, UGTO *DOES* have a missle cruiser.

Just a line of reasoning, or my two cents. Oh, I'll need some change, please.

ICC = Missiles
UGTO = Fighters

Hence they have carrier cruiser and we have missile cruiser, we have carrier dread they have missile dread...just a "thing". If we had a missile dread, then ICC would ask for a fighter dread and then kluth etc etc...just wouldnt work out..

Escort ship concept is a purely human concept, so the K'luth dont get one...

Hee. I'm talking UGTO here.. Not Luthy.

*points upwards to her first post* Like I said, a 'carrier' with only 5 fighters just kinda reeks of battle-dread rather than it's own thing.

Problem there is that escort-type ships are designed to protect stuff, normally stuff bigger than they are. So an Escort Dreadnought would kinda be a waste of money. Escort Cruisers, maybe, but probably not Dreads.

I wasn't really being serious.

Mostly what I MEANT was perhaps some kinda dread who's main focus is not all combat. Just something or other.

Well, from my understanding of what they're gonna do to the Command ships it's interesting, sure. But the dread in beta is getting it's repair/build slot removed. So.. Well meh.

Right, but if you read the ships description, you will see that they reduced the number of fighter bays and increased the number of weapons points after the Battle of Luyten. Been in the original history since the ship was first made 4 years ago. So we left it and made it match the history, and introduced the new carrier.

Its in now, was required to maintain the games story line for current ship designs and allow us to introduce the new model.

Doing it another way would have either corrupted and wiped out peoples garages or broken the games story line. This was the best option and covers both issues.

Thanks for the info, Tael. I will say that a game is just a game, but a game with a decent fictional history, makes a 'experience', and I can so totally agree with going along with the history you've set up for your game.
