Random idea I had, woudn't it be cool if Ion storms broke out at random inside a gas cloud? It would damage ships and disable jump drives.
also, random picture because I suck at drawing so much, and it's so easy to laugh at

Your descriptions are as enlightening (LOL PUN) and as humorous as ever.

still the idea is facinating, even if the dev's cant implement the damage done it would make great natural interdictors.
imagine a cluster that is surrounded by such a nebula or a couple of em.. it would make a natural fortress and thus highly priced real estate

get an escort?
still when the planet is done it would be hard for an enemy *or friend* to approach it thus making it a perfect fortress

Why not make it, so these Ion Storms/Nebulae natural Interdictors are between direct jump lines from jump gates,
Example, Jumping from the Luyten to R33 Gate to the R33 to Lalande Gate, Inbetween that have the Natural Interdictor, could create some traps, combat etc.

I like that idea BUT some of the areas are quite big and may take forever to get out of .
As for the ship damage that I agree with but not disabling of JD's due to damage.

Make it so bigger ships get more damage, they have a bigger area/mass so would attract more, it would definately help lower pilots get some combat, or be able to combat a dread, sticking them in the nebulae.

erm well the idea is good but about the damage is alitle bit worse, anyone thougth about the pres farming from supplies?..it would be so easy to exploit...anyways if it would function like an interdictor its actuly pretty awsome, but then then the nebulas cant be that big thoug...

why do that, if a cat chews thru a power line the voltage or amperage is the same as when you grab the same line, you will most likely survive cuz your bigger.
* fine fixed you grammar checking bum... *

not voltage, amperage. Voltage is too easily modified by resistors.
