Ok current Armour rings look something out of a DOS game, so I was thinking, What if we simply filled them in, and gave them a little glow effect?

Maybe with 2 different rings, One being Armour and one being Hull? So You get two rings, Once you see one the outer one being red, Or even turn black with just a white outline to Indicate its fully gone, the Inner one will start going red, As Hull on that side deteriorates.

It would work in blocks though, So You would see your front block go red, then your 2nd front block go red, and the affects of your ship aswell.

As You can see, 2 Rings, Which would be thicker and have the glow effect, at about 20% Armour it goes to red on the outside, 5% Armour its fully red and Hull starts taking partial damage, and Another Idea, That might or might not work, would be if the armour is at 0% that part of the ring turns black, and is merely a white outline.

but still, this is awesome idea, yes.

Hey also, as an added note, you can make the rings 'segmented', so that its easier to differentiate between arcs.

On another note, Red Hull could also be something like a 40% Increase of hull damage, Adverse to a greener side. Its not meant to be like one shot to red hull is a death, Its 25% per segment.

why not have audio voices (faction based WHEEE!) announce the armor/shields status every time it loses 15%, other than that i like slinkis idea (exept the hull part ) anyway make it layer based (you see every layerof armor/shielding as its own ring) and have the hitboxes hull tight and you have a winner

Nah, UGTO would have a more British/Irish/Scottish accents I think.

ICC would have an American accents, and K'luth would be a wide array of clicking noises or growls.. Or the CRAAAB PEEEOPLE song.

nono, you have it all wrong

UGTO are all "western" and "manly". so they're like "pip pip cheery ho, INTO THE HELLS OF VALHALLA" and such.
ICC are all "eastern" and "totally awesome" and "Ninja".
K'luth are all "telepathehic" SO THEY DON'T MAKE ANY FREAKIN NOISES.
yip yip yip.
