RIght now we have one slot for ALL specials.

this means the sensor frigs can carry all pulse/sensor/reactors.

etc etc.

What i want to do in order to Force a ship into a designated role is to split the specials up in 3 roles

I would like to see the following roles.

Reactors
Sensors
Battery * new *

as you see the battery is the new item i mentioned it does not increase the ships power generation BUT it allows for a HUGE extra storing space.

Now i hear you say that leaves us nothing to choose from well here's the catch.

The current special slots can be dual fitted so you could have sensor/battery meaning you can either put a sensor device or a battery in it.

Now to force a ship into a role lets take the ICC Command Carrier dread it would have mostly sensors.
o to force it in its role the 3 current slots should already be sensor that is its MAIN duty.
however we also know that carrier need to run/fight in close combat so out of the 3 sensor we take 2 of em and make en sensor/Reactor and Sensor/battery.

that way you can still mod it a bit but you cannot make it into a never running low on power ship.

Also this open the possibilety to add more "specials" to a ship since you can now steer the function that it will get a bit.

so lets look at the Kluth now.
we all know those pesky destroyers/piercers that never seen to run out of power and that do not have the abillety to ecm themself * ships alone * effectively *

so how about we give them NO access to reactors * dont kill me PLS!!! * however the Kluth did device theyr Antimatter battery cells so whit those in place they will have a bigger energy reserve.

so whit this we can add more sensors to them whitout turning them into a never run out of power massacare group.

This idea kinda needs some more work cuz i dont know where the pulse/flux would fit.

maybe add a 4th catagory special weapon.

sounds pretty cool

little idea on the battery
batteries would be set up with 'ammo' like reloads and jumpdrives (maybe 500, 1000, 1500 depending on how large a batt you get) that have to be either re-energized at planets (depots) or at a reduced (slow) rate by engines or reactors. active batts would replentish energy by something like 10.0 (up to the maximum for the ship) per every 100 battery ammo


what about the other specials tractors and mining beams and such?

The Command Carrier shouldnt be a combat ship if you want ships to fit into their roles =P

They are going to implement reactor slots etc., afaik.
