I know the developers were bouncing around the idea of more systems on ever ship.

I've decided I really like this idea.

For example. A 'bridge' system.

If you loose the 'bridge' system, you loose ALL targetting outside of 150 gu.
Maybe also have 'static' on the screen---just have random polygons appear all over, and maybe even 'fake' targets.

Why is this a good idea?

Remember----systems only take damage when hit from their arc.

Scout. No bridge. Doesn't need one.
Frigate. 1 full bridge
Dessie. 1 full bridge
Cruiser. 1 front bridge.
Most dreads. 1 full bridge, 1 front bridge.
Assault dreads. 1 front bridge, 1 rear bridge
Station. 1 left bridge, 1 right bridge, 1 front bridge, 1 rear bridge
Support ships. 1 full bridge.

So-----Frigates and dessies become much more vulnerable. Cruisers are vulnerable from the front. Dreads become pretty survivable in general, especially the assault dread, which will almost never loose its bridges. Stations basically can't loose their bridges. Scouts have an 'invulnerable' bridge.

Now, in accordance with given all ships neato systems----Give all ugto/icc a scanner-minus system. Just like a scanner, except that it won't increase visability of fighters, psi missiles, items on planets, or cloaked ships. Also should increase your sig by 15-20 or so. Call it a targetting sensor. Note---this doesn't really affect kluth, it just allows UGTO/ICC to see each other. Would not work if your sig is negative. Won't pick up enemies if their sig is negative.

Make it so that UGTO/ICC without their targeting sensor on can't see past 1000 gu, regardless of sig. UGTO/ICC gain greater visability against each other, but also present larger targets. Gives you visibility up to 3000 gu.

Give Kluth a 'Psi' sensor. 2000 gu range. Make it indestructible, and not raise sig, and always on (like auto repair). Slightly less effective, but doesn't interfere with cloak.

Now. For the UGTO/ICC version, use the same schema as the bridge schema above. Scouts CAN'T see past 1000 gu, except if they put specilized equipment in their sensor slots. Frigs/Dessies have vulnerable scanners, etc, etc, up through station, which essentially can't loose scanner.

This opens up many more possibilities.

For example, given the upcoming upgrade system, these systems could have upgrade levels.

Also, we could devise an anti-beacon. 3 anti-beacons will disable 1 targeting sensor, if they hit from the correct arc. Dessies would be vulnerable, but they can dodge. Dreads/Stations will basically not be vulnerable.

Once could also have a 'psi-jammer', to do the same thing to the kluth.

You would have to choose if you wanted anti-beacons, or psi-jammers----

Just another 20000 cents.

In StarTrek TNG they had the main Bridge and the battle bridge when the Galaxy Class Enterprise NX-1701 separated its separate bridges.

NCC-1701-D would be the correct ship numberical name for the Enterprise on TNG. Also, teh battle bridge was rarely used, only when seperating the saucer section from the warp section.

So..... ALL ships (except frigates, i like the idea of the invulnerable bridge)) have a main bridge, which allows them to have targeting past 150gu. if that blows up (like a ship part, not reparable either), the auxilery bridge would come on take over (antoher ship part), alowing targeting for 150gu-0gu. if that aux bridge goes..well....50gu range? or perhaps your a sitting duck? A

lso, this raises and enteresting question. could you "upgrade" your bridge like how you upgraded a IE drive to an AME drive to make it more powerful/less ressitint to blowing up?

Note: Star Trek is too stupid during combat times to be looked at
Uh Captain...we got no weapons to fire at the enemy
(Still they have a dozen of shuttles which can hardly be hit and have nice weapons right in their hangar, but no...we dont use them)
There is only one episode (DS9) when they use shuttles to support a larger ship during combat, and they just use those because the larger ship gets destroyed
