Ok at the moment ppl use nukes rather than EMP to knock out nmy systems.

Why take a mine that ony does system when you got a mine that blows system and a large piece of hull as well.


Now i've been looking at the ELF beam and besides sucking energy it also makes you reload any loaded weapon again.
Why not give nukes that effect instead of the EMP.

It can knock out weps for a little while AND do damage.
You wanna kill systems get a EMP mine

Not to sound like a Developer, but:

This forum wasn't created to bash other's nor their ideas. That is for the Soap Box and General (your language here) Forums.

As a player currently enamoured with mines, Axianda has a good point.

Emps do damage to hull and shields, but they are pointless to use if Nukes or AM's are available.

Emps are only useful if your flying a Ugto Miner on FA or Newbie.

Perhaps if they did systems damage / what the elf does while the enemy's shields/Armor is still up? 1 Emp does a little, but hit a small cloud and your systems are fried...though you have plenty of armor to take a beating while screaming for help.

Maybe they do that already...don't know...I use Nukes or AM when I can find them since they do all of the above and more.

if im reading u correctly what you want to do is give nuke mines hull damage and the weapon reloading effect of elf beam.

The problem with this is emp mines pretty much 0 out a ships system if the ship hits the mines. What will happen is people will carry 1 emp mine slot and the rest nuke mines. So now instead of having ur system fried. Ull have ur systems fried and all ur weapons wont be loaded.

true but it would still require you to carry 1 EMP mine thats 1 less nuke and in a fleet action it would keep you alive a little longer for help to arrive


even now nukes wont reload your weps they will just blow em up along whit all other systems.

This way if your hit by a nuke your engines will be fine.

i find EMP mines useful cause of that 15 ammo, i can lay a much bigger minefield on the fly then if i were using nukes, and can effectively completely disable an enemy craft with em. Nukes have 8 ammo, smaller minefield, easier to avoid

I agree, EMP mines are thoroughly and utterly useless. Screw giving nukes some special effect, just give EMP mines hull damage effects as well. The UGTO need to be able to lay down a minefield that actually DOES something.

I refuse to say anything from the kluth standpoint because if I do, you will probably ask for EMP Mines to be nerfed

Note: Elf technology is Kluth only, therefore it wouldn't appear on the ships of different factions
However 2 Nuke mines shouldn't just do the same task as one AM mine and one EMP mine, that's NOT diversity

Maybe ICC should get those mines which make hostile ships slower (I know I read that already somewhere), since they are the defensive factions and that would give a great defense ability

I dont want to copy the Elf effects.

Dom is right thats the Kluth special.

But i do want a SMALL EMP blast.
Maybe just a few % sys damage so its offline for just a little while and not enough to cripple the ship

Good idea, though I'd actually like to see emp mines made more powerful (though in a different way to nukes so that they are a genuine alternative), maybe increase their blast radius or give them slight tracking capabilities.
