I think the general consensus is that people like the idea of the MI being able to do it - it's just that they don't do it very fairly or methodically- just randomly.
If it would be possible, would people prefer that we refine the rules of engagement for this weapon?

Yes. Removing the calculations for what planet to hit and have it chosen at random from all available planets in Sag would be good. Completely glassing a planet like it used to instead of just killing the pop would also be good.

If this horrible weapon is to stay, may I suggest a few changes....?
1. It becomes a projectile, like a regular bomb, instead of a beam.
2. It is slow moving, and can be PD'd.
3. MASSIVE splash damage to ships, thus putting the ship that PD'd it into some danger.
4. It wipes planet. May as well get some real build points out of it.
5. Non-capturable. (would MI REALLY have a bridge for a human/K'Luth to fly from? Think about it!)
6. Randomness of targets/faction hit.
7. More reward for killing the damned thing. More pres or a better premo enhancement drop or both. A paltry 25 points for a 5 minute battle is pathetic.
I cant see how this stays in the game, with the already thinned out player base not being able to cover the mv now. But if it must stay....

They dont do it methodically?? Its done completely randomly?! I have witnessed two longheads entering r33 and heading directly for the two sy's there - paul and grace and glassing them before i could react. if that isnt methodical, annoying, pointless and .........

"it's just that they don't do it very fairly or methodically- just randomly."
I'm pretty sure it means: They don't do it randomly.

This poll is done. I'd like to thank everybody for expressing their opinions on the topic (even though I asked not to, but oh well). I cannot guarantee anything will happen because of the poll given these results, so for now let's consider this topic being looked at it by the staff. Thanks again for your input.
