Earlier today the metaserver entered a hung state after a power failer at the data center, this caused the server to refuse new sessions for players logging in when it came back up.
To explain why sessions are important, everytime you login and create a connection to the server, a secure session is created on your behalf so that we make sure you are you, and no-one else. Without these sessions, the login server would reject you for security reasons.
This is absolutely not a normal occurrence, we apologise for any inconvenience caused, and appreciate your patience on the matter.
