On 9 August we had planned for a reset of the MV to take place.
The original plan, was to give notice so the player base had time to know that a reset would be taking place. We did not want to announce the exact time to instill small element of surprise and to build a bit of excitement.
Unfortunatley a technical problem arrised when actually doing the reset. For this reason we had to make a decision as to which direction we would go from there. It was either leave the MV down for an undetermined amount of time (hours) or to do a reset to a state that had been saved. We deceided that it was better to have a game up - even if it was not the neutral map - than to wait the undetermined time.
We are currently working on the issue involved to prevent this from happening again.
Resets are generally unpopular with a portion of the players. There is a rule that the MV will be reset when a faction is gone from the map. As everybody is aware of this it should not come as surprise nor a subject of debate. After all, you have it in your hands - don't cap the last planets and there should not be a reset, as the rules sand to date.
We fully understand the unrest felt by some players that the ICC have now been given an unfair chance. Please understand that it is not a matter of giving anyone a chance but a matter of doing what could be done at the time.
Thank you for your understanding.
