ok some fleets are for it...some against...arent we forgetting how to show this alliance so we can see whos good and whos bad?...i mean really we have kluth complainging about sag being capped so i bring this up...PUT THE DAMN TAG ON! WE HAD THIS ARGUMENT ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO!
some fo you may hv forgotten so let me remind you of these tags...
- Ally Icc/Ugto
- Ally Icc/Kluth
- Ally UGTO/ICC
- Ally UGTO/Kluth
- Ally Kluth/ICC'
- Ally Kluth UGTO
now you see, remember this argument now? ok heres an example...
Your UGTO with the Ally UGTO/Kluth] tag...this means you cannont fire upon another kluth if he/she has the Tag [Ally Kluth/UGTO]...
well there you go to ponder on...have fun...

btw...i shoot any enemy without a tag opposite of mine (if i even have a tag), so all you GTN can stop getting pissed when i decide to attack kluth..

I can't begin to count the number of times I've been fired on (not accidental fire, but sustained attacks) by so called "allies" during alliances.
A word to new players or those who don't understand: Alliances are only worth the word of those you are allied with. Since everyone you ally with is a human, expect betrayal at any time.

You know what fleet alliances makes really crappy ...
You wont help to get rid of enemy Planets if there allied and we cant fire on you betrayers because of FF . Alliances should only be faction wide or better not at all . Otherwise playing in Metaverse gets far to complicated.

sounds to me like whats needed (post 1.481 of course)
is a solid method of conducting alliances/treaties as part of fleet diplomacy
The fleet leaders for each faction (or perhaps a repsentitive that can speak for a fleet as a whole) form sort of a high command for the faction, and its the high command from each faction that hash out the alliances, treaties, and all that. once the terms are set and agreed upon by both parties, the factions' high command signs it, and puts it up in the diplomacy forum and the factions are formally allied (and show up as green on each others little IFF triangles)
fleets can pull out of the alliance at will, with proper notification, but the alliance isnt formally dissolved untill the high command of the involved factions get together and make with the declaring of war and whatnot
this doesnt include independants (players not part of a fleet), cuz working them into alliances is tricky (maybe some sort of termporary tag), and fleets that are formally part of an alliance but break one or more of the terms of said alliance/treaty
or somthing like that

Define “Alliance.”
All too many “alliances” are really informal agreements, handshakes, good
intentions.
An alliance is:
1) An association based on common objectives, shared resources, shared risk and mutual benefit (they give us kluth resources we give them UGTO resources)
2) Based in contract, emphases on collaboration (must be a written agreement!) (make a formal contract with sigs indicating there is an alliance)
Treaty:
An agreement so made; specifically, an agreement, league, or contract between two or more nations or sovereigns, formally signed by Fleet Leaders properly authorized, and solemnly ratified by the several Fleets, or the supreme power of each Faction; an agreement between two or more independent Fleets; as, a treaty of peace; a treaty of alliance.
If there is to be a treaty make it formal otherwise does it really exist?

there is no official kluth/ugto alliance or threaty
however there is an mutual cease fire in some cases more based on the fact that the icc greatly outnumber both ugto and kluth as one.
and the smart ones follow this becaus you cant win a 2 front war when outnumberd 10-1.
and for me personly it works like this
i dont shoot they dont shoot simple no need for fancy words here

Oh shut up with these alliances, that's all I have to say. They NEVER have worked properly, and NEVER will, till the possible time alliances are hard coded into the game (Doubt it, however.)

The Terran Alliance (Agents/GTN and several of the others on both factions joined after it was forged) Worked...then as most do, it was called off when it wasn't needed anymore...

Sounds to me its more like your afraid. Heaven forbid things get a little sticky. Alliances happen all the time, mostly started by the weak minded, the ones who are afraid to fight 2 factions at once. But, let me return to my original post,
