As a house of cards built in a strong wind must eventually succumb to the irresistable force, so must every great empire yield up its power in time. The collapse of a mighty sovreignty is not always sudden or even discernable under even the closest scrunity; the grandest mountainside will fall one pebble at a time just as surely as it will perish in the wild perdition of an avalanche. And look well now, for another stone has just rolled free of the juggernaut that is the UGTO.
There are two forms a rebellion may take: the peacable but firm statement of an idea in the face of conflicting ideaology and the open hostilities of those seking ot be free from an oppressive influence. The more the issue of our place in the UGTO was debated, the more the ideals of true rebels began to emerge. We have found ourselves filled with the vigor of the intellectual rebellion and the fire of the arms-bearers but leaning toward neither one nor the other. However, if our ideals are as of yet unclear, our course of action is. The Sodality of Ares is therefore publicly and formally stating its rebellion from the United Galactic Trade Organization. We are choosing instead to ally ourselves with the former Free Trade League, now known as the ICC. Our command authority has already secured our new headquarters in what is termed "Rebel Space" by some and our combat pilots will be following closely behind. Before the day is out all properties and people of the Sodality will have removed themselves from UGTO territory.
This is to be a clean break on SAs part. Expect no treachery. On our honor there will not be a single structure taken down in either Sol or the surrounding UGTO-held systems nor will any of our intelligence on UGTO fortifications be used in immediate retaliation against former allies. This is a command decision not a fleet-wide vendetta.
