Today on Earth the UGTO Senate ended their discussion on what to do with the GDI.
At the end of the discussion the vote outcome was: The GDI is to be terminated at once.
The Senate has been keeping the press in a black hole during certain events lately.
But as always the UNC has been able to find the details.
Exactly 1 week ago an UGTO Battle Dreadnought was destroyed by other UGTO forces.
A K’luth Drainer moved between an Elite Assault Dreadnought and a Heavy Damaged Battle Dreadnought, the EAD fired a full alpha towards the Drainer who quickly dodged them so the torpedo’s smashed into the Battle Dreadnought.
The EAD was under command of the Galactic Defense Initiative.
This alone was not the reason though, 2 weeks back a GDI bomber cruiser accidentally shot 2 Particle Cruise Missiles into Ocatat. The Missiles hit Gredalf one of the largest cities on the planet.
Planet defenses had no time to react because the Ship was in orbit of the planet.
All GDI members that were ranked close to the GDI High Command have been arrested and are being transported to Earth.
But the convoy transporting the prisoners got attacked before it could reach Earth.
The Convoy has been destroyed and prisoners have been transported away.
Long range sensors showed that the group who attacked the convoy later on contacted an ICC fleet in Luyten.
This give us reasons to believe that GDI might have switched sides.
Our reports are currently going to the ICC homeworld to see if the ICC Council has really accepted the GDI into their faction.
U.N.C. out.

UGTO? ICC? Whats it matter anyway, you will see them more in Fleet Admiral than anywhere else, ICC hasnt gained any help, its just gained a Burden,
Unless of course you have magically whipped GDI into a lean mean MV conquering machine Barth..

My brethren! At long last I can see you in space as a friendly again! Alas, I'm going to keep my position in S.W for now...but if the S.W ever changes, I'll have a familiar place to go to continue my research...
*Orders crew of the ICS Cat's Eye to salute the GDI*

UGTO Headquarters is on Mars at Olypus Mons, not Earth....UGTO is based out of Mars.

As qouted out of the History section.
The outcome of the meetings between the Martian colonial government and the Earth's newly appointed Galactic Coordination Committee was the independence of Luna and Mars as their own sovereign worlds, and the formation of a Galactic governing body to be known as the United Galactics Trade Organization (UGTO). The UGTO was formed to look out for the well being of all the member planets and was made up of representatives chosen from all of the planets. Tensions ran high between Earth and Mars for years and although there were quite a few "incidents, no conflicts broke out. "Olympus Mons on Mars was soon chosen as the site for the UGTOs new headquarters and campus, and Earth was no longer the prime focus of human activity.
