There's a new MV map, visible at the server page as usual. We cut out a number of systems in order to better streamline operations in the MV, hoping to encourage combat at least a little. Due to the reduction in systems and planets, there should also be less lag as well as fewer planets to bomb and subsequently build - which should hopefully turn out to be a good thing.

The layout is something of a combination of the old 1480 layout and the current one of funneling through a common center system. This should hopefully encourage more interaction. Additionally, systems are spaced out, taking up nearly as much space as the old MV used to with more systems. This should help reduce the use of WHs across the entire MV, though sadly its not possible to spread things out far enough to make them useless. For that we shall have to wait for a patch....

Anyway... any feedback? Leave it here. This includes broken gates, screwed up orbits, ... uh, any problems with it, basically. You can give general feedback as well, but complaints of losing a favorite planet will probably be ignored.

Shigernafy, you know im not one to complain but I have only 1 problem with the new map. Its to linear. I fly dreads, and thats pretty much it. They dont have the best range so I have to use jumpgates. Well because of this new system setup my enemies know precisely what gate il be coming through. I could use WHs but even those give my position away.

The old MV was a clump of systems connected at various points by many gates, I could enter a system, strike, then egress thru a completely different gate. This made my actions highly unpredictable and made me difficult to track down. With this new map my fighting style has been limited, my method of stealth and evasion are gone.

Ive already had several players, friends in fact, tell me to stfu, or suck it up, however they are kluth, the ones with the cloak, its not a big deal to them. But it is a big deal to me. This new system setup caters to the kluth. Ambush points and dictors. Its gonna be rough, specially for the lone n00b in frigate whose out exploring the MV for the first time, or the Super sexy Grand Admiral Darkspace Legend in his Bomber Dreadnaught cant forget him either....

Thats my 2 cents, you know Il still play reguardless of how things are around here, but thats just how I feel about the new map.

Oh one more thing, Juxtaville and Josefania are both alot larger than Roguestan. I find this to be inaccurate considering im over 64% funnier than both of those n00bs combined. Plus I have 2 PAID accounts, thats got to count for something! Im not asking for much, just instead of it being called the Metaverse, we can call it the Rogueaverse, or RV for short.

Thank you for your time, and god bless.

EDIT: Ok i was premature in bashing the new MV, ive grown to like, i have seen more combat recently which gets me out of my beloved bomber dread. Perhaps its not so bad after all. I guess what im trying to say is, Crims mom is amazing.

stfu suck it up Rogue.

Sorry I couldn't resist.

I like the map alot Shiggy. Might actually mean people clump together and fight rather than jump to random systems and bomb not unlike a certain person I'm not indirectly talking about. Right about now is where I'm going to assume you know who I'm talking about. Suppose that you didn't, its okay, I'm not going anywhere near naming names anyways.

I wasnt around to see the version rogue is talking about, although it sounds like that must have been awesome. As it is I have to agree that this is better than the last version because players arent so spread out. I really dislike having to spend most of my play time jumping around looking for a system that may or may not have a scout or a dread in it. Then again thats part of the experiance but at the rank i'm at I prefer direct fighting. The negative to this is that I know certain people will be waiting with a half dozen station on the other side of the jump gate to the tau ceti(i think?) gate. Then again they did this anyway. I think it will be worth while with all the new players that have been coming in and getting uterly lost, as well as promoting faction unity since it wont take dayz for us to all meet for a unified attack. Keep it up for awhile, maybe it will solve some of the complaints.

So far, it seems to be awsome.

In the first ten minutes of it, we already had a few fights going, and one with UGTO that lasted nearly two and a half hours..

There is a good point to the new map, which Rogue overlooked. The enemy knows where you will come from (for the most part). That means you will have to attack/invade in numbers and with proper fleet organization, rather than just being a single-ship hit and run player. I understand that we are frequently alone on our teams while others are asleep, at work or at school, but I believe the game SHOULD be difficult for a single ship to survive in. As has been said before by the devs, DS is designed to be a fleet-based game.

Instead of trying to be aggressive in action while alone on your team, go on defense or on recon. Snoop around the enemy space, tracking who is online and where they are located. That way when more allies log on, you will have the intel to make a strong attack at the enemy's weak point.

I don't really see any downside to a smaller MV. Less lag being one of the biggest upsides, I think..

I suppose one would lament the loss of a 'big' universe to play around in, but really, would you rather play in a big universe and be horribly lagged, or play in a smaller one, relatively smoothly?

i officially suggest changing Luyten to Nicea....dunno how many would agree with me....

i love the new map Shig. smaller, should have been done a long time ago, and it will bring more combat..in fact, about 10 mintues after shig released the new map, there was a fight between Kluth and UGTO...

Now get rid of WH's and it will be fun. You can finally defend the systems at the gates

The only complaint that i have is that for a center system and thus a highly contested system Luyten does not seem to be "big"enough.. no way that all 3 factions can get a SY in there if they wanted and still have a few planet to battle for.

change the center to a realy center piece and ill be cheering.

nah. I like Luyten there. One faction gets the main cluster and then has a strong advantage, while the other two use the out-lying planets for repairs while they lay siege to the cluster. It is a new dynamic from the Tripwik senario we have been facing for so long.
