Definitely going to be following this, Starflight was one of my favorite games as a kid and I spent hundreds of hours on it. This one looks promising and if it's as good as it looks it'll be worth buying.

Ah man... too bad it isn't in 3D.
Imagine if it had DarkSpace graphics and physics.

Hmm... the idea of it all. A DS/Starflght Sandbox universe with hundreds of systems. Configurable ships. Trade. Mysterious AI-aliens. Maybe even 2 or 3 factions that aren't necessarily at war, but are having an uneasy peace.

Online mayhem.
Maybe that should be DarkSpace 2

A post-Interstellar war universe just like what I said above.

Wasn't feeling old until I saw this... I played Starflight but it was by no means the fist space game for me.

Nah, Freespace was by far the best space game back in the late 90's. I would say Starcraft, but that was an RTS.

Hope you like it. I have. Hopefully you spending the 10 when you could have got it for 2.50 benefits the developer. It is on sale the past few days from Gamersgate for 2.50

I got my copy from Gamersgate and so far I haven't been able to do much. It's a bit glitchy and crashes if you click the wrong log entry or savegame slot and try to load from one that's empty, and I've had it crash twice from I don't know what just while playing. If you try starting a new game while in the tutorial it glitches and keeps the tutorial screen open from the part you were at, causing you to have to exit the game and restart. I noticed there were updates and downloaded them but it still crashes, I'm hoping that gets fixed soon because so far I'm unfortunately not all that impressed.

Forgot to mention I had to bug my mom for two weeks solid in late 1991 and she paid $75 dollars for it. It was basicaly christmas, easter, birthday, and chores that got me this game.
