im trying to format my pc, win 7 and stuff... and it simply doesn NOTHING at all at setup screen, keeps, loading forever. in desperation i donwloaded some variants of win7 bruned and no go... im fed up with microsoft and their surperior OS they can shove it somewhere. i might just try ubuntu, heard is easy, effective, all good things. im just wondering one thing....will DS work on ubuntu?

Sounds like a HD problem, you can run Ubunto from a flash drive without a HD but you cant install DS this way from what ive seen.

I had this problem. I removed 2 of the 4GB in my system and install worked.
DS does not support OSX or Linux.

DS can indeed run on unix based systems by means of a compatibility layer called "Wine" there are specific settings that you need to apply, but Wine will run darkspace provided your graphics card can handle running the GL linux environment while also running DirectX for the game (many newer cards can do this no problem)
Keep in mind that there will be a few bugs, and you will not be able to report them because DS doesn't officially support unix systems.

You couldn't figure out Windows...
...so you're going to a Linux distro?

Ubuntu is pretty self explanitory. If its just going to be used to run the computer you dont need to know how to do all that fancy stuff.
