After seeing sheer stupidity in the average facebooker answering a simple math problem, I present to you the question and 2 answer choices.
48÷2(9+3)=?
A) 2
B) 288
The current poll stands at 1244 people wrong and 1003 people right, so which answer would you pick?

48÷2(9+3)=
48÷(2*9+2*3)=
48÷(18+6)=
48÷24=2

48 / 2 * ( 9 + 3 ) = x
48 / 2 * ( 12 ) = x
48 / 2 * 12 = x
24 * 12 = x
x = 288

Multiplication and division have equal precedence in order of operations, and thus proceed left to right, and you can make this more clear by multiplying with fractions instead of dividing. So:
48 / 2 * (9 + 3)
48 * (1/2) * (9 + 3)
48 * (1/2) * 12
24 * 12
288

Wrong. You are multiplying 2 by 24 when you should be deviding 48 by 2 first.
Order of operations says that multiplication and division are equal precidence, meaning the standard left-to-right rule is applied
TRUE: 2 / 1 * 2 = 4
FALSE: 2 / 1 * 2 = 1
therefore:
48/2(9+3) = 288

Assuming Danny's age = A
We have
A = 9/(A:4)
A*A=9*4
=> A = 6
