That motherboard only has standard PCIe x16 and your video card is a PCIe2.0 x16
Most video cards are backwards compatible, however it will half the bandwidth and dramatically reduce performance. Since you have the option, you should invest in a better motherboard.
For what you're using, I suggest: ASUS M4N68T-M V2 AM3 NVIDIA Geforce 7025/nForce 630a
Should be around the same price, but an all around better board; it has the PCIe2.0 x16 slot you need, supports double the maximum RAM and it has a better chipset. Downside is it does not have as good audio as the MSI board, but purchasing a cheap PCIe x1 audio card isn't as bad as buying a graphics card that would be nerfed by the mobo.

i bought a comp just a couple months ago and it also runs ds at max settings.
Athlon II x2 250 (wanted the Phenom II x3 740 be)
2 x 2gb DDR3 kingston ram
ASRock M3A770DE mobo ( $65 on newegg, including S&H)
MSI R5550 (discontinued)
500gb western digital (Sata II)
430w thermaltake psu (gifted)
Cost: $290
This is just me but I suggest the asrock M3A770DE mobo. I also suggest getting the athlon II x3 (very few games actually use the 4th core) and then use that exta money for a amd/ati 5xxx series gfx. the reason being is you will get a gfx card that will last longer before you have to upgrade. if you need more help go to tomshardware.com
p.s. check out their System Builder Marathon, Sept. 2010: $400 Gaming article, I think you will like it

I just got a ASUS M4N75TD AM3 NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI ATX AMD Motherboard, there was an open box available so it only cost me $10 more then the one JBud posted, so far working well.

The worst thing is to have low PSU. It's the most important component to be honest. It's best to have 600W and above as time goes by, the actual W falls. If you buy 500W atm, one year later, it will drops to about 480W, 2 years, 450W etc; but on the opposite, the other components drains more energy (degradation). Thus, invest a good PSU in advance is a good choice.
As you shall spend more money to have better supply, I suggest you buy Athlon II instead of Phenom to save money.
Recommend: Cooler Master GX-650W and AMD Athlon™ II X4 640.

870-G45 support 1600mhz by OC. If you won't overclock, don't buy 1600 Corsair. IMO, it's strange that although they use chipset 770, MSI assigns the MB 870 number.
As you look at the mainboard ram, you'll notice that there are 2 blue and 2 black RAM module, it means you have to put 2 RAM modules on the same colour module. 86bit supports maximum 4GB, therefore even you buy 1x4GB RAM, you have to plug in a false RAM into the 2nd colour RAM module.
Recommend: 2xKingston KVR1333D3N9/2G lifetime warrenty.

To be frankly, invest on DDR5 is a sharp cut in the wallet atm. DDR3 is good enough and with acceptable price. Less but not least, R5670-PMD1G doesn't support HDTV so you can't play DS on your splendid HDTV if you have one.
Recommend: R5570-MD1G with DDR3 and HDTV output, support DirectX 11 and OpenGL 3.1.

Care for Environment?
Seagate ST1500DL003
or WD Caviar Green WD7500AARS
Care for 5 years warrenty?
Seagate ST3750525AS or Deskstar E7K1000
HDE721075SLA330
Btw, how about LCD, Sound card and speaker?

Not any real issues, however the memory speedis only supported when overclocked, and typically it is a good idea to fill each slot instead of adding a single large module, you should use 4 small modules.
Due to the required overclock for using the memory speed you selected, I would recommend 4 of these instead: Kingston 1GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model KVR1333D3/1GR
Can't wait to see your uploaded pics of this new build!

It's not 8GB, it's 2 x 2GB = 4GB.
First, Windows has limit of memory. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778(v=vs.85).aspx
You have Windows 7 x86 therefore the limit is 4GB.
Second, don't forget to check the compatibily between RAM and mainboard.
On Kingston, they have the check compatibily at http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/mfrmod.asp?root=us&LinkBack=http://www.kingston.com
Insert MSI and 870-G45 then you'll find the one you need is Kingston KVR1333D3N9K2/4G
I don't see MSI 870-G45 on F3-12800CL9S-2GBRL (the one you pick on newegg. So be careful. [ This Message was edited by: chlorophyll on 2011-02-10 23:27 ]
