his genius in movies will be sorly missed, i liked him in forbidden planet(1956) , even more than 50+ years later its still 1 of my favorite sci-fi movies...........

Apparently, Nielsen needed an emergency operation after an accident at his home. He was just about conscious when he was being wheeled around the hospital he was in. Just before he was put under anasthetic, he requested the lead surgeon and said: 'I just wanted to say good luck, we're all counting on you.'
