why can you fit a lvl 10 fusion generator on a scout but only a lvl 2 on a dread. it seems like if it fits on a scout they could find room on a dread. maybe im just confused.

The generators you fit within your Dreadnaught class ship are of a larger and more powerful variety.

The larger the generator, the more instability, therefore anything over lvl 2 will cause massive feedback, and possibly cause an explosion.

Scouts have Level 10 Generators, as theirs is small, and can be set to level 10 happily.

Its to balance the power production. Engines are by far the most powerful producers of energy in the game. Scouts get 1, dreads get 4.

I always thought it was because scouts were so fast that most energy was directed towards engines.

Well, theirs two answers to explain why scouts have less energy

1: Less space. Obviously, if 1 reactor takes x space, and you have 5x space, you can fit 5 reactors. Thats obviously more power, although it's probably not a linear increase like that. But still, the point stands that as you have more space, you have more power

2: Scouts main purpose is speed. Assuming it has the same kind of energy reactor as, lets say a cruiser, it's obviously not needing that power for the same number of weapons. It more then likely requires it for the engines and scanning equipment mounted on it.
