Someone with way to much time on his hands recently studied whether or not the Red-Shirts really do die more then other crewmembers during the original Star-Trek episodes using statistical analysis.

Well, they say a red car attracts the cops, so a red shirt attracting bullets or death doesn't suprise me.

Bulls are attracted to the waving motion of the fabric... notice how a lot of the capes are now more pink than red...
