Not to keep the trend of Darkspace Tech Support going, but I want to get back into windows so I can get back into DS(or at least the lobby)
I have solved one problem, but others keep coming up First I had malware which would have made me reinstall windows anyways, but I was stubborn. I waitied until I couldnt boot into windows to format my hard drive.
Well now that it is formatted(even before I formatted it) I cannot boot to my XP install disc. The tech support forums arent helping..
It will go to Press any key to boot to CD.. then "Checking Hardware Configuration" and the screen will just stay blank. I have ruled out the DVD drives and the test on my CPU and HDD was fine. Also, the CD will boot to other computers, so it is something else.... ideas?

i'd check the ram, but it could be any number of things on your mobo. I'd also try disconnecting everything but the basics and try it again, if it works start hookin things back up one at a time till you find your problem. this next thing only applies to some older computers, 2000-2002 or somthing like that, look to see if the Capacitors on your mobo are swollen "This is a problem I used to see alot of, when I was recapping them for people a couple of years ago" but thats not very likely. What is your Mobo model?

using a extra ide/sata controler? i had this problem last week with one of those.
Basic stuf to do before installing xp
unplug paralell, serial and if connected the printer from the port.
If installation is not working.
Unplug all addon cards from your mobo exept your VGA card.
(e.g. soundcard, ide/sata controler, scsi controler, firewirecard, extra serial/paralell controler and modems.)
things stil not working.
unplug all exept your cd'rom and OS harddisk.
next thing up is somthing broken on your mobo or cd-rom drive is broken.
if harddisk was broken it would give you a error about that.
PSU problems are unlikely since you cleared the bios, todays mobo's (from 2005 and beyond) warn if unstable power is connected.
plz reply with your findings and or more problems.

It is a dell thing.. I will try disconnecting my secondary DVD drive, as I think when I installed windows originally(with this disc) I only had one... Tomorrow I will start troubleshooting with the fun stuff...
Also the computer is.. 2004
To eledore:
It is a SATA HDD(RAID). I have a combination mobo(has IDE connections and about 2 additional SATA connections after the hdd) I will first start with the stuff I changed since I installed windows last, then go further like the video/sound cards.
