Don't we have 747s with gigantic laser beams to handle this sort of thing?

aargh the tsar bomb. cool that the placed documentary on the internet.
[some quotations]
The bomb, weighing 27 tonnes, was so large (8 metres long by 2 metres in diameter) that the Tu-95 had to have its bomb bay doors and wing fuel tanks removed
The Tsar Bomba detonated at 11:32 a.m., located approximately at 73.85° N 54.50° E [1], over the Mityushikha Bay nuclear testing range
The heat could have caused third degree burns at a distance of 100 km. The subsequent mushroom cloud was about 60 km high and 30-40 km wide. The explosion could be seen and felt in Finland, even breaking windows there.
Since 50 Mt is 2.1×1017 joules, the average power produced during the entire fission-fusion process, lasting around 3.9×10-8 seconds or 39 nanoseconds.
This is equivalent to approximately 1% of the energy output of the Sun during the same fraction of a second.
[/cool quotations]
p.s. anny one here notices that in the google movie the subtiteling is DUTCH.
go Dutch Historical Movie museum.
[edit] some of the quotes.

Got any more accurate datings on the explosion? Because I dont recall anything breaking here or nor a sound loud enough to break any.. I dont also recall feeling a shockwave or anything.. I live in southern finland..
(btw, that "laser defence system" in US cannot destroy the russian Bulava warhead. neither can a nuclear explosion 500 meters away from it. it was precisely engineered for the one and only purpose of hitting US.)

lets not forget it was going to be a 100 megaton bomb, before the russians thought it would incinerate the earths atmosphere and they scaled it back.
Silly russians, if someone is going to blow up the world. its ganna be US
