Bah, Americans need to loosen up and take a joke; I thought the bit was hilarious and sadly true (in a satirical sense). We need to learn to laugh at ourselves (speaking as an American).
We get a bit ruffled at (and too focused on) the unfair bit of U.S. bashing, and end up missing out on truly funny stuff in spite of ourselves. Long live John Cleese.
