Changed the navigation map so the rotation is independent of the tactical screen, seems everyone complained about this, perhaps everyone will complain about the change
Changed it so the name is displayed instead of the IP address when connecting to a game server. This was done in response to some player concerns about hackers using this to get at someone running a game server.

well, a hacker not being able to get server IP by different means ain't a hacker.
anyway, there's no reason whatsoever to show the server IP, it's a very good idea NOT to show it.
so this is a step I highly appreciate.
why im writing this: IMHO thinking to have good security - but actualy having bad security - is worse than knowing to have no good security
if you realy want to prevent that your server IP is read by "hackers" - YOU have to change your network setup/tools/software...
Palestar can do very little there (except what they already have done, not showing IP at startup) so it's **your** task if you want
*real* protection.
(talking about server administrators)
note that I'm neither saying that running a DS server is a security risk.
nor can I give guaratees that it aint.
conclusion
not showing IP doesn't *change* security a lot.
server operators can do a lot to prevent hackers, Palestar can do very little.
anyway, I'm happy about this usefull
change
regards, LB

Thanks lord for adding that...
I've delt with more than one instance of someone blaming DS for them getting hacked. Hardly true, since we can do very little to protect them from their own security holes.

Running a server of any kind (game / application) is a security risk in general, some servers may be more secure and some else less, but there is simply a "theoretical" security issue with both wich is up to the "end user".
btw: running a client of any kind is a security relevant thing too, so best is to cut down your internet connection and put your PC into the next shredder...

Yep, especially when following escape jumps... just turn the own ship in the direction the enemy escaped, switch to nav map, click 5k gu forward and jump.
Now it needs a bit more time as one needs to get the right direction first.
Maybe due to this one the emergency jump may become more useful again

Have to agree, nav map rotation worked better before the change.

I tend to dissagree...and if you're trying to follow a ship, I find it a lot easier to just eye-ball it anyway...
Keep up the FANTASTIC work Faust..
oh, and about my MV bug? LoL...j/k

Just give us the option to choose which way we prefer.

yes why not like turn status on / off
and if you could do it to the Fade in / out function to it would be nice , if you want to get a bigger overview of local-map you cant see the ships.
