You may remember from a while back that there was a contest to replace the aging banner image of the DS Home Page. Your friendly (and slow) Event Staff ran the contest, and had a deadline of long ago on the contest. I had even planned on announcing the winner long ago, but I wanted to update the website first to reflect the new banner(s), but I kept adding more and more things to my list of things to do on the website; consequently, it hasn't yet been updated. However, enough time as passed that some sort of announcement needs to be made. Thus, this post.
The contest saw many very impressive contributions. So much so, in fact, that we couldn't decide on one image alone to replace our current shot. So, when the website is updated, a script will be used to rotate a number of images in that spot. This should hopefully make the home page a bit more exciting.
Given that we have a rotation, then, there are many images we could use. In fact, many of our submissions made it into the rotation. Those players whose images will be shown randomly on the home page are:
JackSwift
Meko
Bad_Skeelz
Barth3zzz
GTW
Captain Caveman
The image which will display will be entirely random, and with the number and variety of the images, it should be a bit more exciting.
However, the contest also had a prize to the "best" banner. This decision was understandably difficult, given the high quality of the many submissions. In the end, though, it was decided that based upon overall quality and number of submissions, the prize would go to
Meko
Thus, he has been awarded a one month coupon for his work. Meko: The check is in the mail.
Everyone congratulate our winner, as well as the other contributors. Hopefully sometime (I'm guessing my other work will be complete by the end of the month) the website will be updated, and you will all be able to be impressed by the lovely images gracing our home page, submitted by the fine folk listed above.
ps - future submissions will still be accepted, with the possibility of making it into the rotation; however, no coupons will be given, as the contest is well over.
