Welp, I finally upgraded my dev system to W2K... and WOOT.

I can finally compile the game more than twice without my system hanging, my link times are about 30 seconds, before they took around 2 minutes to link the main game.dll.

I can stop debugging on the game client, and actually start the client back up without having to reboot my system first. (I was having to reboot my system about 15 times a day when debugging the game)

In other words, I wish I had done this over a year ago, anyone who is still running W98, and having problems with lock-ups or crashes... you should really consider upgrading to 2K or XP.

Well, the normal rule is not to change your development system while in development..

I was afraid of a long down time, plus some bad experiences with W2K when it first came out (complete lack of drivers).

be carful using xp it is pretty fast but it is too new - i always wait til servicepack 2 at least before i trust it. have at least w2k as a backupos handy.

i got XP when it came out.. err it sucked but now its ok well that is till today...... i got a virus and well... lets just say i'm typing this on my old W98......
