I anticipate that some new code will go into beta early this coming week.

The new code will consist mainly of the backend-server changes, which allows the servers to communicate with each other real-time. This will allow much better load-balancing, as we will be able to actually distribute the work amoung multiple machines/processors.

Also, missions and grouping code will most likely be disabled in the beta as they are ungoing major changes due to the new server backend.

Players will be required to select a spawn point after selecting their team and before they select a ship. The spawn points will be either a faction jumpgate or a shipyard on a planet. The types of ships available will also be determined by the spawn point as well... faction jump gates will most likely have most ships available... shipyards will be limited by the resources available on the planet.

Platform and fighter changes will be implemented after the server-backend changes are completed.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for their patience... we are nearing the light at the end of the tunnel.

-Richard

I don't know why, but the whole Universe Server project has felt like the coming of "DarkSpace: The New Beginning".

The promise that is contained within the US is enormous, and I greatly look foreward to it's instatement.

Take your time, and be patient. Don't push yourself too hard, and don't burn yourself out. Pace yourself, and don't feel that you are committed to any week at all. Above all, try to still have fun with this patch. Your truely loyal supporters will always be here to support you.

Midnight, beta it with a lowspeed connection, if that's an option.

We need information from those kinds of connections as well.

I have always played on a modem.

I will play the beta and tell you how it is for me.

Should be fun.
