I originally posted this into the suggestions forum, but now I'm posting it here since it keeps coming up in the chat rooms. This is how combat prestige is now gained..
The amount of damage inflicted upon a ship is divided by 20000.
i.e you inflict 5000 points of damage on a ship, you get 5000 / 20000 = 0.25 points in ship damage.
Each point of ship damage now gives you 10 points of prestige. I lowered this, because a transport has 40000 hull points, and a player would get 40 points of prestige for destroying a simple transport.
Friendly fire goes by the same calculation, but you get -10 points of prestige per point of friendly fire.
A scout has 12500 hull points, thus the most you can receive for destroying a scout is 12500 / 20000 = 0.625 points. Thus 6.25 points of prestige.
