Since this game went open source.
Is there anyway I could get some ship models in 3ds or obj format.
Like the ones from UGTO, ICC and K'Luth. Only asking for 3 models.
And the credits will credit the makers also.
Would really like to show off the work here in a Freelancer mod.
Need the answers asap. The last of the ships need to be in this month.
Please email or PM me. Or goto my website.
Thank you.

Exporting models and other Darkspace game arts and assets to other games would not be permitted.

I think you would probably need to create or commission someone to make them for you barring explicit permission to use the existing assets.

It says this in license.txt.
"Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions:"
However if this is not the license then what is? There has to be one.
Edit:Sorry for probably ressurecting the forum topic but I'm curious about licensing. [ This Message was edited by: Commando950 on 2016-09-06 05:29 ]

Asset files are not covered in the license due to the fact many people have contributed their time to creating works for DarkSpace, and as such it's not for us to declare whether these people want their assets open sourced. The license covers the software only.

I thought when a game went open source that everything inside was free to use in other projects.
When you credit the mod team or the makers of a game. That's okay.
In one such game we can use Eve Online ships but in the note or email that we got from them we cannot sell the game. Because of the copyright.

Even better, I thought that when you submitted work to DS, you were surrendering your rights to that work, as no compensation other than noted credit was ever offered. That would mean that the assets become part of the offered software, doesnt it? I mean, do you get permission from that person if you alter their models in any way? Just sayin....
