With your permission could I get the models for "Darkspace" in 3ds, lightwave or obj format. I would like to use them in a mod that im putting together.
It will not be sold or anything like that.
The game that the ships would be in would be "Freelancer"
If so please leave a message here...

Also I'm glad to be here.

Please email requesting permission and CC . Once that's done I can ask our modeller if he's happy releasing some of his works.

Sounds good to me!

Would be great to see the ships in Freespace 2 also, great potential for capital ships there also

Oh wow, you're actually allowing this?
Hey, when that mod comes around, let us know, I'll have to dig up my old Freelancer installation...

A Sins mod would be awesome. You could try again and also mail. No harm in trying.

Hmm.. A DS mod for Freelancer.

Interesting. I like.

What's it called?
- DS: Fighters
- DS: Squadron
- DS: Angels

or

- DS: Top Gunk?

Not even sure if it's worth buying, the game is really, when you break it down, a very simplistic space rpg.

While it was a big time waster for me several years ago, it just tends to be extremely dull:
-To make decent money, you usually had to do trading, which was basically a grind of traveling back and forth dozens of times.
-Doing missions on a server would often cause packets to 'back up' and you'd lose connection before the mission ends.
-Capital ship mods were all hilariously bad, your station-sized battleship flips around like a cardboard cutout if a starflier so much as nudges you, and turning the camera fills the screen with white lines.

The only thing going for it was that the controls were easy, and the combat was intense... usually it was a jousting match, or thrust pulsing around where the slightest lapse in attention would result in instant death.

The game was fantastic to play though at the time. Nowdays its a bit dated, but still fun in my opinon. All those capital ship mods were horrible indeed. though...

I did actually enjoy the main story line, but once you've done that, there's nothing left to keep you hooked. And despite what the game claimed about you being able to take the path you prefer of trader/explorer/combatant, you would most certainly be screwed if you got anything but an agile combat ship.
Your ability to explore and trade is hampered due to the gate permissions and level caps.

I tried, just for the hell of it, going with a freighter. Huge mistake, the game became nearly impossible because they're just fat targets with twice as much health, which simply is not enough in a game where evasion = life.
