A lot of the time when I'm at work and bored, I'll doodle on post-it notes; I'm not particularly good at drawing but I can sometimes put something onto paper I quite like the look of.
I found a few I drew about a year ago and decided to try and put them into Max as possible concepts for DS ships. These are not designed to be game models nor are they modelled to any particularly high degree, just enough to flesh out the idea a bit.

Pirate M-180 Destroyer - Escort Carrier Conversion
An old destroyer hull heavily modified to act as a light carrier. The original conning tower is now incorporated into an additional bow structure and functions as an ATC tower. A massive flight deck held on with a large framework is capable of holding a respectable number of fighters. An old shipping container has been re-purposed as a pressurised hangar bay. To maximise the number of fighters that can be carried, many are left out in the vacuum, their landing gear magnetised to the flight deck.
To compensate for the change in centre of mass and increased weight, an additional thruster has been added to the aft. While the design is effective, the structure is very susceptible to damage from weapons fire; as a result, these ships are kept far away from the main fight.
I got the idea for this from the look of many pre-WW2 aircraft carriers, which were often built from freighter or battleship hulls with a flight deck strapped to the top.
UGTO Medusa-class Command + Intelligence Station
A lighter station class, sporting an increased number of antennae and receivers. Its mission is to coordinate ground and space battles and also monitor and jam enemy sensors and communications. Designed for strategic warfare rather than tactical, its own weapons are primarily for self-defence but is still able to deter most ships below dreadnought-size. Carries a quantum-entanglement transceiver for instant and secure communcation with UGTO headquarters in Sol.
The main goal here was simply to create a command station hull, which I imagined to be less suited to battle and more focused on electronic warfare and support. The inspiration comes from jellyfish, hence the name.

Darn look nice, especially that station.
Wonder how they would look with the textures.
Can you add the Polygon Count of those things.
Thanks
E.

I've got a few textures to use, I just need to get round to relearning the process
Base carrier model is around 2,700 polys but I'd probably have to redo it from scratch as it's quite inefficient.
Station is at about 3,500 polys. The centre arms would need redoing too, I think I wasted quite a few on those.

That Carrier sounds perfect for a Pirate ship.

.. just looking at the Carrier destroyer again.
It reminds me of the Chivvay class battleship (gundam)

+111111 for awkward towers. Hulls love awkward towers.
Flight deck seems kinda off, though. Could you work in a more space-sensible thing while maintaining the general profile of a WW2 escort carrier? Not that topside open-hull launches are bad, elevators to acceleration rails are all the rage.

Love that station.
Get it textured!!!
This looks like a candidate for a Command Station.

I love the CS too.
Kinda looks(a lot) like a Vossk station from Galaxy on Fire 2.

More crap from me.
ICC prototype command station - "Rail spike"
Designed to be a more advanced, new build station compared to the ICC's current models but lighter due to budget constraints. The spherical hull contains 9 separate docking bays for smaller ships, several of which are reserved for fighters, while larger ships are able to dock on the toroid hull.
I haven't decided a use for the petal-like structures, I'm stuck between having them be for shield projection or electronic warfare.

That's one sexy Station there.
