Prize: Prize includes a week playtime and 500 prestige per member of the winning team
Event Details: Three teams will race across the known MetaVerse in a combat frenzy.. The race will begin at Earth, and end at Exathra, the First Team who's Race Station arrives at Exathra wins! Each team will consist of up to 8 members* Combat between the teams is possible
*see team entry limitations below
Event Date: Saturday March 21st 2009 16:00 (4pm) Central - 22:00(10 PM)GMT
Entry: 3 teams* - 1 team per faction - 1 Station, 1 Dread, 2 Cruisers, 2 Destroyers and 2 Supply Ships per team

If you do not have a team sign up here and you can be matched with another team or be a backup incase someone doesn't show
Race Ships Permitted: Station (ICC/UGTO/K'Luth)
Support Ships Permitted: Destroyer, Cruiser, Dread, Supply
Race Ship Modifications: HMA ONLY ( Worm Holes will be disqualified )
:
- Teams WILL follow the specified path to get to Exathra
- Teams will NOT server hop or use Shipyards to cut distance
- Combat is permitted between Teams any destroyed Race Station is disqualified - Any destroyed Team Member may NOT re-join the race.
- A small fleet is permitted to escort your teams Race Station to the finish
(this can be offensive or defensive or both depending on what the team prefers)
- An few escorts will lead all players to the finish line Escorts are marked with the tag [Escort] all Contestants will NOT fire upon these crafts.
- All are welcome to watch no one outside the event is to engage the Teams in any way
- There will be a Melee after the winners are announced

Just a suggestion - why not make it a class of ships everyone can use, and not just Fleet Admirals and above? Better yet - have a section for every class of ship.

This will be interesting.
Something I have noticed of late is when I enter a jumpgate say 5-10 seconds after the person in front of me, I have always appeared a few seconds ahead of them on the otherside. Could be an edge winning a race who whom has a better connection.

There's nothing wrong with this event, but you might consider a team-work based variant on it for the future - have combat allowed by everyone. Ie, each faction (or fleet or whatever) gets one station, and the rest get to try to take down the other faction's station. Thus, there'd be a need for a handful of sups, some combat, etc.
Could even have each team start from a slightly different (but generally equidistant) point, so each team has to decide whether its better to have a defense run and just repel any potential attacks, or focus all on offense to try to take down a competitor, or a mixture of both. It might be an interesting strategic discussion, since everyone would know where the other factions would be -- plus they'd all run into eachother at the end. and then probably crash casseiopeia
Alternately, you could have "traps" where a certain system or two has a bunch of players waiting to attack any stations coming through. They'd only be able to attack within that system -- since I suspect the stations wouldn't make it all the way in my above paragraph's scenario -- but the concentrated opposition would make for a good test of teamwork.
For lag's sake, the above option might be best to do staggered - ugto go first and are timed, then icc, then kluth (for example). That way you don't just have a random melee of all three factions that degenerates into a server overload. Plus, players can more easily spend time in an offensive and supportive role.
Alternately, all three. Now you've got an entire month's worth of events (albeit somewhat repetetive ones).

Also, doesn't it sort of benefit ICC to be going through their space at the end? Might be worthwile to clear the path of any planetary dictors, at the very least. But the Kluth/UGTO might want some sups too, for any planetary damage received.

Don't K'Luth have faster jump drive recharge? If they don't get killed at the first jump gate it seems like they would have the race in the bag.

Having the contestant's attack each other may not be such a great idea with the current displacement of fleet admirals in each faction; might wanna use seperate heats that start 5 minutes apart to even it out. Also, who is going to spectate the stations? I imagine it would be hard to track each one alone. This is probally gonna need quite a few volunteers to work. Love the race concept though.

They are stations you know and it is even in a way because it does start in enemy territory for ICC so at the beggining UGTO have the advantage and as for K'Luth they have an advantage in this race either way and they know why

This Idea is great I Have implemented it into this event having a team with the station, a dread, a couple cruisers, couple dessys, and a couple supply for each faction, and having three teams sounds great
