It has recently come to my attention (again) that the badge art is lacking in a few ways.
- We need the Sirius Combat Medal. If you check This page of the Manual, you'll note that it lists a Sirius Combat Medal.. however, if you check the profile of anyone with those provided requirements, there is no badge.
- There is a Bronze Bomber badge, but the Silver and Gold use the Navigation Badge. We need a pair of color-changed Bombers.
- The Transport badges are all borrowed from the Support Badges.
- There are no Privateer Badges.
So we need:
Sirius Combat Medal, Bronze Transport, Silver Transport, Gold Transport, Bronze Privateer, Silver Privateer, Gold Privateer... and somebody to change the color on the Bronze Bomber to make it look Silver and Gold.
Thus, the Event/Contest/Competition:
Design some new badges. This contest is wide open.
The designs need to fit in with the general badge theme, but otherwise the judging is just whatever we think looks best. You can submit as many images as you want, for as many badges as you want. And you can have them be any size you want, so long as they are proportional to our current badges (which are 64x64) and can thus be resized properly (ok, not any size: they need to be at least 64x64 pixels).
Prize: I'm not sure yet. Ever lasting fame? A place in the Manual? A ship named after you? (Don't bet on it) A few million credits? 2 Bonus prestige? A week free play time? Anything's possible... [I'll try to get more specific later...]
Deadline: Uh.. how about Sunday, March 12. Noon PLT (Palestar Local Time, which is CST, -6.. if you're confused, use the event timer). That's two and a half weeks.
I can get it on the website, easily. I can't promise it'll make it in the game (at least as quickly). Just so you know.
Any questions, post them here. I'll throw up another thread for submissions.

Point of clarification: we're happy with the Bronze Bomber image, but the color is .. well, bronze. There's no Silver or Gold variant of it. As I said, I have Paint, and thus am rather unable to do much about that. The easiest (and best) submission would be just tweaking the color on the existing Bronze badge and making it match the Silver and Gold look of the other badges.

If i recall correctly when we posted about this awhile back Demorian made some pretty cool badges and awards..

Oooo oooh! What about all those snazzy badges we made before? (The ones before The email?) Any chance of adding specialized awards that have no relation with anything at all? I.E. something similar to the "badges" we had before, but this time a bit more, um...professional looking?
We could keep 'em in reserve in case we ever had a reason to use them...Now that we're opening the door, might as well ask for a full request, eh?

Those were.. different. I'm thinking only actual professional type badges, at least at the moment. Maybe someday we can get a more versatile system back in.. but for now - I think its better to avoid a repeat of that debacle.
