A controversial event, outlawed by most stellar governments, resulted in pandemonium earlier today.
Participants believe that the pirate-hosted event was merely a ruse to cover their more sinister intentions.
As the event unfolded, pirates maskerading as party goers sneaked on board the attending vessels and attempted to capture them.
The host, none other than the notorious Pollo Diabolico himself, denies all involvement with the disasterous outcome.
"We were enjoying the celebrations and displays of the awards ceremony when out of nowhere thousands of masked mauraders unvelied themselves and boarded the ships," Pollo is reported to have said.
He also insinuated that the highly secretive organisation known as "Cártel Verde de Queso" may have been involved in the operation, which has resulted in the loss of at least 20 privately owned vessels.
It is expected that the cost of replacements will reach in excess of 15 trillion credits.
