The first day of deliberations was hardly productive, as all three Ambassadors simply laid out their ‘demands’ to the other factions. Little ground was given on any side with regards to the opposition’s demands.
The UGTO Ambassador started quickly and strongly, declaring the radiation to be the fault of the ICC, for their careless use of such dangerous substances. The ICC Ambassador quickly countered, arguing that it is the UGTO’s Augmented Weapons Program that led to destabilization of ICC shield reactors. Arguments between the two Ambassadors went on with each side all but ignoring the other. The K’luth Ambassador spent much of the first few hours in silence, trying to remain objective but open-minded. The K’luth Ambassador did not publicly declare to side with either of the two arguing Ambassadors.
After deliberations were adjourned for the day, the K’luth Ambassador was visited by representatives sent from the UGTO and ICC wings of the secret location in space. It is not yet known what was discussed during either of those off-the-record meetings.
We have been permitted to broadcast short quotes from each of the Ambassadors during their deliberation speeches today.
UGTO Ambassador, Undisclosed Identity – “… Therefore, UGTO High Command demands the immediate and unconditional end to Buggedshieldsica-483.6 mining and refining on all ICC worlds! To continue to permit such dangerous sciences to proceed will be seen as Crimes Against Humanity in the eyes of all UGTO!”
ICC Ambassador, Undisclosed Identity – “The ICC High Council did not authorize the development and implementation of ‘augmented weapons’! The corrupt UGTO government did! This result is not so unexpected as they claim it to be. They knew these weapons would result in sterilizing nearby life forms. They just underestimated the enduring effects of the radiation. We shall not cease production of Buggeshieldsica-483.6! To do so would leave us open and vulnerable to UGTO oppression!”
K’luth Ambassador, Undisclosed Identity – “The lack of responsibility taken by both Human factions disturbs us. We find that both sides have merit in their arguments, both for themselves and against their opposition. Even in the face of self-destruction and total annihilation, the Humans point the blame to those around them. The K’luth Empire demands an end to this atrocious radiation. It is causing a great cancer in our vessels and harming our subjects. Something must be done. What should be done has yet to become clear…”
