Crash on GCQL login |

When I try to login to GCQL, all seems fine. It updates the client, asks for my details, but when I press the login button... poof! "GCQL MFC Application has stopped working".
It is the first time I've tried DS on this computer. It's got Windows Vista. It meets system requirements, I'm sure.
Any help?

I do have Windows 7 and 8 computers too...
It works in really old compatibility modes 98 and 95 but then chat doesn't show up and it keeps saying it's reconnected to server. Entering a homegate leads to the disconnected screen. Also I bombed some inf but they kept reappearing.
Also in the GCQL.txt:

unfortunatly the event log doesnt really help.
i do know that darkspace runs without issue with win7 and 8.1 in most fresh out of the box configurations, at the most you might need to run as admin, disable UAC. The darkspace installer defaults to C:\gamecq to avoid issues with Program Files folders.
antivirus and/or filewall programs are a possible culprit, having darkspace's connections blocked would prevent you from seeing any chat, cause disconnects, but shouldnt actually cause application crashes..

That looks like UAC interfering. Run GCQL as admin. Old compatibility modes get around this by running as admin, as there was no such thing back then.

I've tried running as admin and disabling UAC but still crashes. In compatibility mode the chat doesn't show but what I say shows up if I press ESC and the time it says is the time I pressed enter. But this happens on other devices on c. mode and they work fine w/o it. [ This Message was edited by: GenieBottle on 2015-04-04 03:47 ]

Sounds like a firewall or networking issue then. Please check those and get back to us.

Windows Firewall is off, avast disabled and Defender is off. Still not working. What do you mean by networking issues? My Internet Connection should be fine as other devices run the client fine. Could there be restricting settings?

I'm not sure. SP2 doesn't work.

When I played still, it was on XP sp3 also.
Now I'm on Win 8.1 and it still works fine when I decide to log on and see the emptiness.

Are you sure you're not looking into a mirror?
