Fresh install, cannot connect to GameCQ server |

I decided to come back to this game since I've had a craving for a space game and this was the best that I remembered... And I find I can't even play. I've tried reinstalling, and every time I get 'Failed to connect to the GameCQ server; please try again later.', and it's really frustrating me. I've set my firewalls(I'm using Comodo as a secondary firewall at the moment, it'll be my main one when norton's gone) to not block it, and it's STILL not working. Could something in my router be doing this, or is it a client thing, or is it just the server? I really don't know what to do at this point.

Same exact deal. Wanted to rejoin. Can't connect!
Any ideas? This is serious.

Can you open a ticket and post the contents of your config.ini in the GameCQ directory. Please delete the previousPW=BLAHBLAH line.

Try this, uninstall darkspace then go to its install point C:\GameCQ and delete this folder, reboot and try again.

Ok I just tried that. No luck.
NOTE: The problem is occurring (at least it looks like it is) Network side. It attempts to update by connecting but it won't connect. Every error I get is a "cannot connect to server" error. For updating or connecting to GameCQ.
IT IS NOT a firewall issue, and I got rid of my anti virus, the firewall is turned off. Everything else works in all other games. It's some sort of internal network issue. Don't know- OHH!!!
Wait I think I know why... Sorry I'll come back.

FIXED!!!
It is a LOCAL IP problem.
I had recently changed my IP from DYNAMIC to STATIC.
Change it back to dynamic. It works fine now! Everyone that messes with network stuff please note this.
Explained: There are programs that change your IP to static (for whatever reason you have)
and it basically: All IP's by default rotate. They change constantly. But if your hosting servers etc., you might want that not to happen. So I changed it so that my IP stays the same, set to a certain IP. HOWEVER: It may interfere with many things, such as a computer that might have the same IP. Thus, both computers cannot use the network until resolved.
Ok. That is taken care of.
Good Luck!

I have DCHP on from what i can tell.
Also i get this when i start GCQL
Now I've just gotten into the client
Seems my password wasn't being accepted despite not entering it wrong.
Resetting worked.
I did have a number of other problems, but they seemed to have disappeared for what ever reasons (Had one problem that had a forum post dating back to 2006.) [ This Message was edited by: The Fridge on 2012-09-26 19:08 ]

That's just a minor error that we'll get around to fixing at some point, but it doesn't disrupt normal running of the client at all. Glad you got it working CJ.
For reference, pretty much what you have in your config is what everyone should have. There should be no domain references, IP references, or anything else like that. [ This Message was edited by: Pantheon on 2012-09-26 20:45 ]

Well, there's my problem... Something on my PC is making my IP static. It's not my router, it says DHCP is enabled. Is there anything that might cause this?

your internal ip is usually static (internal is for networking sevral pc's, or a pc to router)
your external ip is usually dynamic (external is either from router to internet (ipv4) or from pc to internet (ipv6)
if for some reason ur external ip is static instead of dynamic, that is either a decision from ur ISP, or from ur router, because most ppl use ipv4. try FD ur router (small reset button on it) or ask ur ISP
