my client seems to fail the check for updates when i start it. it takes really really long and does nothing. i checked for any traffic and connection was clear. so i think it must but issue inside the program itself.
i can cancel the updates and still go in lobby and play normal.
and its a fresh instal, thats what is the most troubling.

did you try reinstalling IE the problem might be in there since the GCQL is some how integrated with IE.

Probably an issue with GCQL needing permission to read/write to the directory it was installed in. If you don't have an administrator account (with administration enabled by default), then you'll need to grant it permission. This is nothing new, and almost all programs require this by default nowadays.
Updates can also fail if your hard drive is malfunctioning (as we do CRC checks on all core files), and can also fail if your ISP throttles or blocks bandwidth that it doesn't understand.
IE is only used to render the website and chat panels, updating and controlling of the rest of the program is done via C++.
