Hello, I wasn't sure what forum to post this in, but today while in "Scenario: Showdown At Luyten" I encountered a player who was moving very rapidly. He could turn on a dime and accelerate very fast. I'm not sure whether this is lagging or hacking, but it definitely needs some looking into. It was very hard to shoot him because he dodged a lot. The player's name is "Firelyte" and not only is he making it hard to shoot him, he's also being annoying. Attacking me when I'm building, taunting me in chat, etc. So please look into it and respond if you can. Thx!

Was his ship jumping back and fourth rapidly while moving or turning?

Yeah that's exactly what he was doing.

if its juex, boomshot or pb died 2000 deaths then yeah their lagging BADLY.

anyone else most likely lag

its just a server fact coupled with peoples perfectly fine connections encountering distance lag based on lack of bandwidth allocated as the servers are in which country again?

its either that or the servers are about to explode or everyone just started using dial up modems.

its either that or your grapic card sucks so badly your computer is taking to long to translate the data so it freeses for a period of time like on spawn sudden flood of data.

hence why the meta verse lags so much when icc bust out those md and ugto counter it with carriers XD

I lag "Badly"? Infinetesimally understated opinion.

Can't help but brag - This screenie shows my lag record of over 3 minutes. I made a 3 minutes 54 seconds record too, but since I did not take a screenie, I shall take pride in this one.
Kids! Dont try this at home! Lol.

Back onto topic, yes, Firelyte is a great lagger. And annoying. That's why he was 'moving so fast' - his computer sent position updates in pseudotandem with the server, making his updated positions drastic.
(Pseudo-tandem = 'In false accordance with', better known as 'desynchronisation'. Impress your friends with this word lol.)

if the minimum requirements allow people to lag that bad those requirements should be raised.

Oh btw thanks to Mersenne Twister for informing me about /report.
If it's just lag then ok but it severely impairs my ability to fight him. Thanks for your time!

Somebody should do something about lag...

@xTx:

The minimun system requirements for DarkSpace have not been increased significantly over the last few years. However, taking into account the increasing burden that the newer operating systems place on machines (1gb+ ram JUST for Windows Vista/7) we will need to take a look at the minimum req's and increase them where necessary.

The new requirements should be something similar to this:

OS: Windows XP SP3/Windows Vista/Windows 7
CPU: 1 GHz Intel/AMD or greater
Video: Second-Generation 3D Card (GeForce, Matrox G400, Graphics Blaster) with 64mb or more of memory
Audio: Direct Sound compatible sound card required.
Hard Drive: 150 MB
RAM: 1 GB for Windows XP, 1.5 GB for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Internet Connection (Broadband)
Direct Input-compatible Mouse.
DirectX 9.0c or higher

I doubt a second generation graphics card could run DarkSpace anymore - purely due to the fact that we axed DirectX 8 support.

I'd expect at least a third generation, if not fourth.
