For the record, some NVIDIA cards cannot do FSAA + HDR. It's not the fault of the software or driver, it's just technically incapable of doing so. Unfortunately there's no magic fix - if you have one of these cards, you'll have to pick FSAA or HDR.

BUT ANYWAY. back on topic.
to those kiddies with Nvidia cards: don't use FSAA with HDR at the same time. it won't work. i chose HDR to stay on. turned FSAA off, and everything worked fine.
