I recently re-installed XP on my computer. For some reason DS lags to hell when I play it on XP but as soon as I switch over to Win7 it works fine, got it in exceptions on Windows Firewall and Eset I really have no idea what's causing it.
My Specs:
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.100216-1514)
System Manufacturer: Asroc
System Model: N68-S
BIOS: Default System BIOS
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Page File: 320MB used, 3619MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series
Any help appreciated.

your card drivers fully updated? That can cause it with DS even tho its so old, also make sure no back ground programs are running, except for GCQL. DS for some reason likes to eat ram for breakfast and that can cause it to lag if the ram is full.

Yeah, gfx drivers are upto date, was first thing I do thank you
Only things I have running with DS is media player and firefox, its not showing up as using much memory, that's what I don't get, at most it takes upto 39% of cpu, I did tracert on server and it was 24-50ms except 2-3 which were 100-204ms.
I really don't get it because it's fine and dandy on Win7 :S
Thank you though Star ^.^

I use XP Pro and have no lag issues ever. The screen freezes for 3-4 seconds when going through a server jump-gate but I figure this might be normal.
SPECS:
32-bit XP Pro
AMD Quad-Core Phenom
4 GB RAM (3.25)
EVGA GTX285 Graphics w/1GB
VelociRaptor 10,000 RPM Hard Drive
DSL 6Mb/768Kb

Yeah all same hardware, no memory leaks etc.
I honestly don't know , I never experience this thing call lag and it upsets me v.much haha.
It's cool if nobody can figure it out, I have tried everything I could think of, even reinstalled my motherboard drivers, after reinstalling everything it seems somewhat better but not alot, I can live with it upto the point of 2md's appearing and pressing their spam button .

Make sure you are using the ATI drivers. MS tends to have it's own drivers for ATI hardware but they suck.

I had a crappy XP computer (untill hard drive failure) that could still run DS.
It had:
Windows XP Pro
Pentium 4 ht
512 MB RAM
256 MB Video Card
200 GB Hard drive
It did run, but I had to set all graphics to the lowest setting.
Anyway, I think you should make sure your network card is updated and that you have a broadband internet connection.
That's just my geeky opinion.
