you mean 500 GU? not 500,000 away? that is what 500K means. 500,000.

dictor drive has 1k gu(1000) arround you, like a bubble.Keep in mind that dictors run out of energy extremly fast, and dictor gets disabled if you don't have enough energy to sustain it.

I'm fairly certain its a 1k diameter. Plantary dictors have a 1000gu radius field. At 500 gu, theres a high chance that your two clients might be one or two gu off; it only takes one second out of a dico field to jump away, effective coverage means getting dirty.

I havent tested the dictor this version(will have to find someone to test with), it used to be 1000gu radius.
But as (Sorry, I forget who posted it as of now) someone said before, its most likely an energy problem. I am not sure if the dictor is the same as ecm/eccm but now rather than turning off when you lose energy it will simply become ineffective. Flying a dictor requires power management even on ugto due to its power consumption. If you go to fast and fire weapons as well, the dictor will most likely become ineffective due to energy loss.(at least this is what I remember in the beginning of 1.5 with dictors and the testing/balancing of them)

the dictor range is still 1000GU
and I did see an ICC Destroyer jump out of a dictor field ....
the field was active for at least 20 secs before i jumped in .... then the ICC Destroyer jumped out not even 5 secs after that
the field was up ... if you run out of energy the field will turn off
but in this case that was not what happened
i already added the issue to the 1.521 bug reports just in case.
its probably dsync or something [ This Message was edited by: ADmiraLMaXimus (Bringer of Doom) on 2009-10-09 00:54 ]

Planetary dictors aren't working right either. I can jump to an enemy planet with a dictor to within 300 gu of the planet, as if the dictor isn't there.
Something isn't working right with the planetary dictors, so I can assume there's an issue with ship based dictors as well.

I may increase planetary Interdictor range to help deal with the latency issues involved in the collision detection, and reduce ship based Interdictor range, or change how ship borne Interdictors work completely so that they force all jump drives in range to reset.
The preferred timing would allow anything smaller than a cruiser time to recharge it's drive and jump out before the Interdictor can pulse again.

speaking of pulse, why not make the ship interdictor a pulse type weapon. When you hit it, it resets everyone's jumpdrive in, say 1000 gu diameter or radius, whichever.
I hate to see dictor not used, and I hate to see it used. Its a sound tactical ship, but an instant combat killer. The minute you see one, you say "well, I'm out". Blame that on too steep of a pres loss for ships.
But if we could change how it operates, then that would be nice.

I wasn't quite sure, except for the changing how the cruiser works, which was a maybe.

Yes, we've talked about making it a pulse recharger. Either it makes the device discharge, or makes it charge for a certain amount of time - probably the former, since that's easier. It's actually a relatively old idea, we just haven't done it.
And yes, its a difficult ship; great in theory, strategically.. but its also an action killer.
